Hi guys,

I just signed up. Looks like a great forum!!! I'm a member of the CR4 engineering forum, and am frequently being admonished for my conservative viewpoint, and proclivity to wander into non engineering topics. I'll likely be bringing some friends with me. I hope we can add a little insight and bring some interesting discussions to the table.

He raises an interesting subject, the infusion of PC amongst the hard sciences.

I mean seriously, math knows no gray area when determining the outcome, but take AGW, that was a leftist driven science from the start, facts were only important if it fit the agenda, if they didn't, they cherry-picked those that did.

I'd be curious to hear how the typical laymen, who wants to keep up, can determine a valid scientist versus one with an agenda.  We can always point to who is doing the funding, but sometimes that doesn't hit hard enough for some reason.

When a non-scientific conservative hears lib propaganda like "most scientists agree on...", how can that be broken down to where the laymen can serve back solid questions that expose a shaky foundation?

When you hear crap like "Most scientists Agree", then post statistics of the numbers of scientists in any given field, compared to their % claim, it's usually obvious that they were Gov funded scientists.
The private sector is full of scientists and engineers quietly working with no agenda, it's the ones feeding at the trough that get the most attention, giving the impression that " most scientists agree" via leftist media exposure BS.

Is there a bullying that goes on with independent scientists do you think?

No, I think it's more a clique kind of thing, where they are black listed from the cool kids that get Gov funding.

Think about it, the Gov specifically hired scientists that would find proof of AGW, rather than hiring those with an open mind.
It was purely agenda driven, though many came to find the evidence didn't support the agenda, so the IPCC cherry picked the information in the end.

It's a sad day for science when it becomes a tool of the left, rather than simply letting the facts lead to the truth.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm just getting used to your site.

CR4 is a good site too, but they are pretty strict on keeping things to a technical nature. This place looks to be just what the doctor ordered.

So, to reply to a particular post, I use the Quote feature???

Yes Solar...................PC is everywhere. There are even many conservatives that get very nervous about Non-PC talk. They don't want to be labeled. Well, I'm a conservative, and I'm also a talker. I'm sick and tired of having conservatism equated with racism and evil.

Were predominantly a political forum, but science and electrical/energy topics are a favorite of mine as well as many of the other members here, as you can see from some of our other forums here.
You and your friends are more than welcome as well as the libs over there, for we do not censor peoples posts, we are far from PC, though we are an adult forum and expect any member to act accordingly.

The one thing that sets us apart from other forums, is that we demand people back up their posts when they make claims, leftist or right.
In other words, were a fact based forum, which pretty much falls under the guide lines of science as you've become accustomed to.
I think you'll fit in quite nicely.

Thanks solar. This is sounding just perfect. I like the fact that you want claims to be backed up, and are willing to listen to the left. The way I see it, I don't want to beat the left, I want to use rational discussion to convince them that they are wrong....................and then welcome them with open arms to conservatism.
All good folks from CR4, even the left leaning ones. It's great to have found a place where we can get into politics and not get in trouble.

AGW is one of the many topics that dissolve into political arguments. It drives admin nuts. When things turn political, they get as nervous as a cat in a rocking chair factory. :scared:
