So for the last month I have been getting set up with new hearing aids.  My last set worked for 11 years.  They told me the most they should last is about 5 to 6 years.

My new ones are bluetooth compatible hearing aids.  I can run my phone(s) through my new hearing aids.  I can stream from my computer, a radio, TV and a Connectline  microphone.  I am hearing sound I have not heard for over 20 years or more.  I have not heard music like this in 30 years.  I don't have to hold the phone just right or ask what did you say.  All the sudden the world has got so dam load.      What's nice is I have full control of the volume.   I can even mute them if I like.

Congrats.

I looked at BT hearing aids before this last set but at that time the only phone they were compatible with was the iPhone. I despise the iPhone! Maybe they'll have a pair that's BT compatible with an Android.

Glad you like it Walks. Mine are Bluetooth compatible for the phone as well, and when the girl  said you'll love this because it makes using the phone easier, I looked at her and said if I can hear my cell phone, then it's not an improvement, I hate cell phones! If it's important, they can call me at home and leave a message.

There's a reason I leave the house occasionally, and being surgically connected to the rest of the world through a landline is why I escape, to get away from the damned phone.

I haven't heard you so enthusiastic since you got your fifth wheel.  But trust me: just because you haven't heard it, the world is ALWAYS so damn loud!

Talk about noise pollution.

It's nice to hear what's being said in the same room your in.   Without having to read lips to know what's being said half the time.  Now I don't need the words on when playing a DVD.

Dori

Hearing loss runs in my family.  My dad and both his parents were near deaf.  Poor dad used to battle with his hearing aids all the time.

Good to know they have improved on them.

They say now that the improvements almost double every 2 to 3 years.  But then you must remember my set up cost almost 8.000$.

Good point. Hearing aids have made leaps and bounds in just the last ten years.
Like yours, my dad too, suffered with the headache of feedback and phone issues, as well as dealing with two aids incompatibility.
The aids today work well in tandem and feedback is all but gone. I have one in my left ear from damage and the doc said that a 2nd would make a world of difference even though I have good hearing in my right ear.

Don't ask how, but he said it has more to do with how the brain translates the information.
One of the neat things about today's aids is the ability to adjust them with a computer with them in your ear. In the past you were stuck with it till you got a new one, but now they're adjustable frequency wise as you sit and listen via Bluetooth..

My last set I had for 11 years were adjustable.   But they could not be adjusted more in my left ear, that why I started looking for new ones.   Today I got my first call via Bluetooth, there was not a word that I could not understand.  I did not have to ask for something to be repeated.
