Title: Napa Valley Fires
Post by: supsalemgr on October 10, 2017, 10:49:34 AM
These are terrible. Very quick like the Gatlinburg fire last fall. I know CA has fires, but it seems this part of the state has not been a "hot bed. I would like Solar's take.

Two ingredients to the recipe. One was liberal policy of not clearing the land, nooo, we can't change the habitat to benefit man.
Nooo, rats and bugs have rights too, Raptors need a place to feed, deer to over populate, man comes second.

Add to that, Mother Nature slapping stupidity. Winds blew up to 70mph overnight, there was no way to stop it once it started.
This pic shows why it so quickly got out of hand. Note all the brush mixed in with trees, no breathing room, and in the foreground, vineyards/farmland go untouched.
The area burned is known as Ecosanctuary grounds. In the following pics, homes in the path of embers.

Same here in the mountains concerning clearing. Fortunately, here sanity usually prevails but the tree huggers make a s lot of noise.

So far there's been no word on the cause, but fires brokeout simultaneously across much of the area.
I'll be the first to broach the question of....terrorism?

Interesting suggestion. Was I correct these type fires are not common in this area?

Not really, though they have had fires, nothing of this magnitude or many at the same time, which is why I broached the question.
Almost always they have a cause or idea because of people calling in fires just starting, yet there's been no mention from first responders.

Winds shifted to the East and I'm getting nailed by the smoke. I live about 100 miles to the East and this has to be one of the dirtiest fires I've ever smelled.
The one prevalent odor that stands out, is tires burning, all those cars and God knows what all, are really making this one dirty and unhealthy fire.
When the forest burns, it's like being in the path of campfire smoke, irritating, but this smoke is nauseating, can't even go outside, your throat feels like fire after just a few minutes of exposure, It's even worse down in the Sacto valley.
Visibility up here is normally 30 to 50 miles, but today, less than 500'.

Is there a face mask that works for that smoke?  Or at least minimize the effects?

Yeah, but they aren't cheap, mine was close to $100, replaceable filters, and they need to be replaced often, or you'll be struggling to breathe.
Mine has built in goggles as well, though I don't remember the name, it uses activated carbon filters, and they aren't cheap either.

Told ya so...

ICE Detainer Issued for Suspected Wine Country Arsonist in Sonoma Jail

The U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE) issued a detainer request on the Sonoma County Jail for Jesus Fabian Gonzalez, who was arrested Sunday on suspicion of arson in Wine Country fires that have killed at least 40 residents.
Breitbart News reported earlier this week that Sonoma County Sheriffs had arrested Jesus Fabian Gonzalez, 29, at Maxwell Regional Park in Sonoma County after a series of reports of ongoing fires in the region. Mr. Gonzalez was observed around 3:00 p.m. PDT wearing a jacket and walking "out of the creek area and a plume of smoke behind him," according to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat.

Mr. Gonzalez, who is homeless and reportedly known by law enforcement to have been living under a nearby bridge, claimed he was cold and had lit the fire to stay warm. But it was a balmy 78 degrees when he and the plume of smoke were first observed.

Mr. Gonzalez was booked into the Sonoma County Jail for suspicion of felony arson. His bail was set at a steep $110,000, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff Public Information Officer.

and now for a little The Clash...  "Should I stay, or should I go".

What a pickle, being a sanctuary state.   The guy torches your state, ICE says, "hold 'em" and Jerry Brown says.....?

I bet you got plenty of folks who'd like to send him back in a body bag.

Yep, Moonbutt hasn't made a peep, but the people are pissed off and this little terrorist is the poster child for failed Stanktuary State.
When the truth finally comes out, the left will quietly drop this bull shit and run like Hell from it.
There are consequences to their actions, every God Damned time!
