Solar

She is our new West German blood line pure bred, German Shepard puppy, 8 weeks old Nov 29th.
Picked her up last night, she slept the whole night through, damages nothing and packed with the curiosity one would expect from a new arrival.
Sweet, wonderful personality and of course, adorable as with any puppy.

Solars Toy

At 8 weeks she is already 11 pounds.  She will probably be a big girl.

She is freaking adorable!!!!

Spectacular.  And it looks like she's already figuring things out by her camera-gaze.

Keen observation.
Yep, I'm pretty impressed by what little attributes she seems to gain every hour.
When I brought her home, she was essentially a blank slate, a head full of air, blank stares and leaky bladder coupled with whines of confusion.
Today she already knows her name, insists on eye contact and her motor skills went from tripping and falling over shadows, to full out running from room to room and jumping in the last 25 hours.
Granted, not the most graceful, but truly humorously entertaining.

Solars Toy

Today the kittens,  Rain and Smokey, and my little dog Libby formed a united front on my chair.  A place the puppy cannot get up on...yet.   :ttoung:

Cute...puppies are a lot of fun

Wear long sleeves.  When we got our Lab at eight weeks, he had the sharpest teeth and claws, like tiny razors.
The danger to America is not Barack Obama but the citizens capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency.

Ugggh, every time we went to visit the puppies, I left a bloody mess. Scratches and needle teeth.
But Diesel seems to understand flesh vs toys, I was playing with her and a stuffed toy, she would gently chew on my hand, and pull hard on the toy, but she mistook my thumb for the toy and really clamped down and pulled, drawing blood, and immediately let go with her ears down and an "OOPS, Sorry" look, of course that lasted about two seconds as something else caught her attention.

Too bad they grow up sooo fast. I love the puppy stage....

Do shepherds like water?  With the lab, you had to keep the bathroom door shut if you were running bath water.  You can't get near a pool or lake with this guy, he's going in no matter what you say.

One Shepard I had loved diving to the bottom and retrieving rocks, nearly as obsessive as labs, but she seemed to have an obsession, wore her teeth down nearly a half inch.
I hope she was an exception to the rule.
My brothers labs come over all the time, he lives a mile away as the crow flies, they breakout, travel through the forest, stay all day in my creeks, then come up to the house all muddy and hungry and won't leave till he picks them up.

Apparently I'm going to be forced into fencing in a quarter mile of property just so she doesn't pick up their bad habits.
My County is a livestock County, where any animal caught worrying livestock can be shot on sight.
I keep telling him he better lock them in his property or they'll wind up dead, and probably deservedly so considering they have to cross a 5000 acre cattle ranch to get to my place.

A friend came over and brought his two Portuguese Water Dogs.  (Like the one's Obama has).  Those guys made me nuts.  They played really hard with our dogs, but they would not stay out of their water dish.  They somehow managed to get themselves drenched, then back to running and in the dirt, what a mess.....ugh...

Not a breed I would enjoy or recommend.

My wolf used to do that too. We had one of those tiny plastic kiddie pools for their water, but even in the middle of winter, he'd break the ice and lay down.
It was always a muddy mess.

Like you, I prefer dogs with a purpose, easily trainable and always out for your best interests.
Not to mention a dog that you can take anywhere and not have to worry about.

When we were very young 10 or so My older brother trained our German Shepard for years.  If he told the dog to sit and stay, then walked off the dog would not move for no one but him.  You could put food in front of him and come back later and the dog would be in the same spot and food on the floor yet.  When my brother came home the dog would not move until my brother said OK!   I could tell the dog the same thing.  The dog would look it me like who the hell are you tell me what to do.
