We just a got a warning of possible evacuation. It was just released that the fire was arson and they have the ass hole in custody.

Last night the fire made a 15 mile run North to the Rubicon river (Famous Rubicon Jeep Run Trail), jumped the canyon and entered Placer County en route to Hell  Hole reservoir, which is about 9 miles shy of lake Tahoe.
The fire is about 10 miles from where we're located, but the fire is running north and slightly away from us, but that can all change in a moments notice.

The upside is I have a dozer, and any home owner that's created defensible space will have a fire crew and truck placed on their property, and I meet the requirement, while other homes in the area will literally be shit out of luck.
I think we may escape this one, this time. In 25 years, I've had 3 extremely close calls, this is Toys first, so she's calling every 2 minutes with updates.

May the winds be with you.  My neighbor has two very large tanker trucks filled with water from Spring and until the end of Fall.  They can spray water over 600' if needed.  He also has a very large dozer for building roads and three road graders.  I have seen him and his sons in actions more then once helping others.

Solar is right this is all very nerve-wracking for me.  To think that at a a moments notice all could be gone.  I pray constantly that God will protect us.

I wish it were that simple, but when a fire crowns it creates it's own wind, devouring anything 500' or more ahead in it's path.
The fire get so hot that everything bursts into flame, so even a 300' defensible space won't help.
Thanks for the offer, but I built my home all by myself, so I'll stay and fight to protect it, it was a labor of love over the last 25 years.

This is terrible.  How far away is the fire this morning from your home?

Years ago we looked at some property in Pollock Pines...beautiful place.  I love it up there.

Prayers up for some rain.

Dori - Last I was able to figure it is about 7-10 miles away.  The have not posted the new fire map yet this morning so I am waiting for that.  We are in heavier smoke than we have been for the last few days but most things around the house are covered in dew.

I found this post/story out on Facebook/Cal Fire.  Toy

Status Update
By Pacific House Farm
A post my husband made to a Yahoo news post. He is normally a man of few words : Unfortunately, the story has a major innaccuracy, and the error has been replicated in every news story I have seen to date. Structures, including homes, have been destroyed. On Tuesday my wife and I watched our neighbors to the west of us lose their homes, outbuildings, barns, workshops. On Wednesday September 17th, we parked further east a few miles on Highway 50 and watched with binoculars from 1/2 mile away as our home and beloved Pacific House Farm was destroyed by this fire. We worked in the heat and dust and smoke for two days to trailer out as many of our livestock as possible, but several were lost as we ran out of time. There are about 15 private properties on Peavine Ridge and I believe maybe two or three survived. We should find out details today I hope. The bravery and strength and skill of those fighting this monster inferno cannot be adequately expressed. Nothing, including responsible property clearing, retardant, ground teams, bulldozer lines or water drops was going to stop this monster of a fire. It went where it pleased and did what it wanted. We will regroup and rebuild because we are hard working honest montain folk who love having and exercising our freedom to be and do as we wish in this great country of ours, and we will never adjust our lives to accomodate for the behavior of sick evil individuals who are selfishly intent on taking that away.
I pray, not wish because I have a God not a Genie.

So far it's holding at around ten miles, assuming the wind holds out of the W/SW.
Were really smoked in today because the breeze died down over night, but the humidity wen't from around 11% yesterday to 91% this morning, so we're praying for rain.

Yes, ElDorado County is beautiful. Why didn't you buy up here?

I was ready, but my husband was worried about finding work.  It was five acres and had the perfect spot for building on with little tree clearing.

Yeah, there really isn't much work up here since the Dims killed the logging industry, a direct result of the damage currently underway by fires across the state.

If anyone is smelling smoke, even back East, it's probably from this fire, all the way up into Canada.
