Kind of weird, known him since 1959, he was a year younger than me, had a massive heart attack in his sleep and died.
I'm fine, but I'll miss him, his dad died just last month, so his mother is taking it pretty hard.

Back in the 70s, he was working at Thrifty's drug store as a night manager, I knew he would get off at 2:00 am and down a quart of Lucky Lager, so one day I called him purporting to be Sgt Wesley from the Sacramento Police dept.
I said an officer was on his way to question him about an accident he had caused while driving home, never the less, it scared the Hell out of him, and he swore he was never going to drink and drive again, and he never did, though, he still drank and smoked daily.
That's what did him in, he just didn't care, but he was still a friend that I will miss.

Anyway, the point of telling you this, was that I would call him about twice a year and say "This is Sgt Wesley", it always brought a good laugh, and I was going to call him Monday just for that purpose, but didn't get a chance.

Anyway, just wanted to tell someone, thanks for listening.

Sorry, Solar. It's always tough to lose anyone.

Thanks Elfie, there were 6 of us that grew up together, now there four, Mike killed himself last year, but as selfish as that was, his death probably makes the World a better place now, he turned out to be one miserable SOB.

Sadly, I will probably out live them all, they all wound up drinking too much, all but Gary, which was Jerrys brother that just died, he tends to eat very poorly.

It's funny, I would never have picked these people as friends, but like your neighbors, you can't choose them either. ;D

The most eerie thing that has ever happened to me concerning a childhood friend was when I went to Georgia to attend a funeral of a relative. After the funeral was over we went walking among the headstones to find where other relatives were buried. All of a sudden I saw a headstone with my best childhood friend's name on it.What a shock that was !! I didn't even know he had passed away.! Right after seeing that,I saw the headstone of a former neighbor.Needless to say we headed for the car and we left.

I'm sorry, Solar.   It's hard to lose a friend.
