Funny how you wind up in unexpected places on a long Sunday drive. Just went through five counties in about a four-hour period, including the above. The rock is new since their last big celebration on 6/6/06. Their Dam Site Inn remains intact, as do the legions of motorcyclists who hang out at the area's various watering holes.

It happens every winter, there. You're just lucky that this photo was taken before someone stole the state road-sign. (That happens several times a year, for some reason I simply CANNNNNNNNNOT understand......  ) That's the reason they "adopted" the rock, above. I don't expect the sign my photo shows behind it to last very long for that same reason.

Wikipedia doesn't say when the Norwegian Hell was founded, although I will concede to you that there has never been a Miss Universe from the Michigan town.....
