Major snowstorm may threaten DC to NYC, Boston Friday into Saturday
Alex Sosnowski

The potential exists for a major snowstorm to affect more than 50 million people across the eastern United States at the end of the week.
Areas from near Washington, D.C., to Philadelphia, New York City and Boston could receive heavy snow from the storm.
The exact track of the storm will hold the key as to which areas in mid-Atlantic and New England are hit with heavy snow, dangerous highway travel and scores of flight delays and cancellations during Friday into Saturday.
Unlike most storms so far this winter, this system will have enough cold air to produce snow and disruptions to daily activities in some areas of the East that have seen little thus far.

Stay safe folks.

Brrrrr.......!!    :woot:

We are supposed to get the tail end of this system  in WNC on Friday. Not expected to be bad. I hope they are correct.

 I am right in the middle of the blue spot on that map.  I can't find my snow shovel and my car died this morning so I can't go buy another one.  Looks like I will shoveling snow with a soup spoon.

Be careful Sue Ann.  Don't overdo it.

Good luck with the car problems.

We had dodged snow this season until now here in WNC. It started at about 2:30AM and at 7:30 AM we already had 6" and still coming. The good news is it appears to be all snow from looking at the trees. However, we are right on the edge of ice and the forecast is for a mix. It is supposed to keep precipitating through Saturday morning. I can live with the snow, but the ice presents all kind of other problems.

Thank you for your kind concern, kroz.

Hubby fixed my car then took a vacation day and we went shopping; 2 shiny new shovels, 2 large bags of salt, kerosene for the snow blower, lots of food and beverages. He even turned it into a "date".  He took me out to lunch.  Happy camper,  here.

Our house heater pooped out on us during the night.  Hubby bypassed something-or-other.  It will be OK until he can order the necessary part to fix the heater. $150. Yikes.

Snow has been coming down for a few hours.  Very small flakes. It is laying but there are only about 2 inches so far.  Wind is blowing, but it's not a white out.

We are safe, warm and well-fed.  The dog is snoring contentedly.
All is well.

For the second time in six years, I got 30+ inches of snow in one storm. My Wisconsin-bred relatives can not believe it.

It has still been an amazingly warm winter. A lot of the snow is already gone where it was not piled up.

Same here, Wyatt.  When finished, the snow was mid-thigh high to my 5'8" Hubby.  Very dense and heavy snow, too.  But now it is 90% gone because the temps have been high.
