I just hope my theory is correct.
One would think if our forum can't log into them, then their site must be down as well, anyway, it has been in the past.

Not entirely true. Close enough from some viewpoints, I admit.  ;D

Choosing a hosting company for the first time is always trial and error. I went through several, myself, trying to set up a blog.

Do be sure that you can actually KEEP your site name. Some hosting companies register it in their name "for privacy protection," and you can't get it back (or go through hell trying to register the old (in this case, present) site name with a new host).

That's how the ongoing criminal organization called GoDaddy screwed me over my blog. (I'd actually vilify them but they'd just think it was a compliment, the way they operate with the small clients.)

(*Deep breath. Again.*)

Looking through the Duke site, I get the definite impression they don't have a lot of traffic from satisfied customers at their site. Notice the ABSENCE of any really new comments in their various forums.

I registered it myself so it is ours... :) :)

Sure it's yours. Unless you want to change hosts. I got put on a waiting list to get my own site name back, but then they played more games to prevent me from getting it. A very long, ugly story relating to sneaky-ass stunts tied to ICANN rules. I sincerely do hope you won't have that problem. I soured on blogging because of tech issue like that.

I did it before we decided to go with Duke so hopefully it's ok....I guess we will find out. :) :)

Got here quickly but hung up during sign-in. Duke responded instantly and I came back here and signed in without problem on the second try. Bah.

I had some problems loading pages earlier.  All is fine now.  I will bookmark the link for next time though.

It has been working better from my end....   Solar yelled at them, so I guess that did it...

Yes, it's working fine now.  My wife just jammed our internet speed up to 25 M so it's cruising now.
