Don't do it! They suck you in, people! I keep ordering books, watching videos, downloading music, and on and on.  They make buying stuff too easy.  I couldn't sleep last night, grabbed my phone, and ordered a Kindle just because.

Run!!!!!

I can so relate.  With one click buying it becomes even scarier.  Did I mention I have 2 Kindles...   Toy

The $100/yr. that Amazon Prime charges DOES present a savings. Compared to individual shipping prices for DVDs for just one example, I saved several hundred dollars last year in that cost alone.

Same here.  I think I've ordered all my Christmas/birthday gifts for the last three years.  I can have them shipped here or to the recipient and gift wraped.

Sure beats all the hours I've spent out shopping in malls with the crowds and the flu bugs floating around, only to come home disgusted and sometimes empty handed.

I hadn't thought of that last part. You're right. ANYTHING beats a beat-down at a last-minute-bargains table.

I used to love to go shopping.  Now, I enjoy on line shopping.  Traditional shopping is not worth the beating and the long check out lines and being subjected to all kinds of secondary miseries.

I was just on Amazon and ordering a birthday gift.

I can even order groceries on line from our local market, but I haven't done that one yet.

Depends on your buying habits. I buy from Amazon at least once or twice a month and, even though I don't (and won't) have Prime, I don't recall ever paying a shipping charge. Once or twice over the past couple of years, a shipment has been sorta slow in coming. But on average, I get my stuff faster -- sometimes a LOT faster -- than the estimated shipping time. I've ordered stuff through Amazon on Monday and had it in my sweaty palms on Wednesday, while paying nothing for shipping.

I guess if you're in the habit of buying stuff on Amazon and paying big shipping charges, Prime is a good deal. But almost everything I want to buy on Amazon is available with free shipping (usually for orders of $35 or more), so I just keep that money and try to limp along through life without an Amazon Prime account.  :tounge:

I love Amazon and Ebay, but for books I still prefer hardbacks. And for movies I just use sweflix.net or other free streaming sites as it is legal to watch but not host.
