What is it with these morons who appear to be oblivious to the dangers of going on a hike in areas like Yellowstone where there are grizzlies, wolves and lions?

City folk should never wander further than their skill set will allow.
Living amongst predators, one learns a certain set of skills that keeps them safe, but when these people that watch too much TV, believe these animals are merely misunderstood, wind up becoming dinner.

Well, it would be better if you could actually carry a firearm with you...:(  Sending unarmed people into such wilderness situations is just asking for more of these attacks.

;D  And that should be no more the front stoop for most city folks.
I have seen people try and touch buffalo in Yellowstone when I was there.   :o

QuoteThe unnamed 57-year-old victim was believed to have accidentally disturbed a mother bear and her cubs. His wife, who was hiking with him, escaped serious injury after being picked up and dropped.
Yellowstone spokesman Al Nash said the couple saw the bear twice on their hike.On the second occasion the bear charged them and the man told his wife to run.

Lets see, they saw it two times before it attacked, and they never thought they might be in danger?
I'm sorry it happened, but if you see a Grizzly in the forest, the last thing you do is keep walking, you get the Hell out of there!

There is nothing worse then a Momma protecting her babies.    Griz, well they dont mess around.  Cityits watch tv and all the discovery channel, animal planet stuff and dont see but what is shown.   They dont think.
The really sad part is, it's going to be the bears fault.   Hopefully they will not kill the momma bear and put her babies in a zoo.   I have to wonder if the cityits saw the bear, and decided to follow or if in fact, they thought the bear would just go away.
People have to realize that animal preditors---with babies, are not  nice.    They have to realize, if they smell you--you are in their space.....

Thats what I was thinking as well.
I bet if they check their cameras that is exactly what they will find, they were stalking this bear.
The article should have said "We finally found the bear for the third time, when she became so annoyed, she attacked."

My favorite used to be the clueless idiots that would put their ice chests in their cars and think that bears will just look in the window and say "oh damn, the windows are all rolled up" and simply walk away.

It very well could be just that.  Ya know, there's something I always tell people when we are out.... critters dont read the same books, critters dont watch tv.....  critters dont know how they are supposed to act according to human  way of thinking.        Its sad when humans think they are above all.

Reminds me of the fellow and his girl friend who were up in Alaska
"studying" grizzlies. All that was found of them were piles of grizzly poop.
If it was easy everyone would be do'in it.

It's funny, people that do shark studies, use cages, but idiots that watch bears, think they are akin to the Teddy bears they had as kids, all cuddly and crap.
