Last night we went to a great restaurant (Cooper's Hawk) and then to Gaelic Park to hear the band.

After all these years I still see my wife as the pretty and sexy girl I was fortunate to marry on 7/11/1964.

Thanks! I am feeling better; now I can sleep through the night with only an occasional cough or other breathing problem.

Why?

We've loved each other since the first blind date; she lived in Buffalo, NY, and her mom was personnel secretary at the foundry where I worked. We talked about me not meeting anyone, and she asked me to go to her home and she'd fix me up with her daughter so I could meet some people. LITTLE DID SHE KNOW!!!

On that blind date we went to Niagara Falls! Never "messed around", after we got married, either. And remember honesty; if you're honest with each other, the rest is a piece of cake.

We met in November 1963, engaged in March 1964 (after Coast Guard boot camp). The wedding date had to be changed several times due to me being in the Coast Guard, and it ended up taking place on 7/11/64. The next day we spent in Buffalo with families, and then we took off in the Impala for California - during the trip my wife came down with mononucleosis. THAT was lots of fun!

Most couples nowadays don't have any commitment. On our 1st Thanksgiving in Santa Barbara, CA, we had no turkey, no other food in the apartment, no money saved, no money in the bank. So I went out and put the top down on my 1958 Impala Convertible and we drove around for 1/2 day.

We were just determined to make it work. You need that commitment and determination! And you need it in any task or job you take on.

The tanking has been incremental. It started with the generation of the hippies back in the 60s. I was a few years older than them, and I can't think of even one of my friends from high school who even got divorced or imprisoned.

Yes, I remember it well. Even saw first hand, the collapse of the San Franfreako Libertarian dream.
