I don't feel old, I don't look old, but I can answer those like I'm an old fart.  Damn, when did I get old?
"We know the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong. Do you not think an angel in the whirlwind directs this storm?"
John Page to Thomas Jefferson (July 20, 1776)

I still believe in this, but now, like then, we need men and women to stand up and fight for our freedoms

We've gone from the days of the 45 r.p.h. "hit single" to today's lightning-fast acquisition of an MP3 or other media. People with ear-sets talk to places unknown, wandering down our streets. We used to call them crazy. Today we call them connected.

We went from one TV channel (NBC) to three (CBS and ABC), and now it's in the hundreds --- and there's still nothing worth watching, even with a DVR or other recorder to play back only what you can bear to watch.

Worse yet, we got ourselves this Internet thing. I'm barely into geezerhood and still have only a surface-scratching of the tech issues I do need to know. I know I'm still behind the pack for not wanting a cell phone, but in this case, behind is good. I make enough noise on my own, ranting about the young punks so viciously ruining our nation.

You know you're a geezer if you can remember when old men shouted, they didn't do it on a blog or a message forum.

I am not so old that we had to be home by sunset, it was the beggining of cultural technology taking over. The sunset was old school. We had to be home when the street lights came on. Now, a lot of places have turned off the street lights altogether. On the other hand, kids don't play outside anymore, so they really don't need them, I guess. They probably don't even know what a sunset is, just if it is light or dark outside. I imagine every once in a while some old timer shuts the breakers off to his house and laughs and laughs while the grand kids panic. Maybe he gets a tear in his eye.

Quill mentioned a cell phone. I have one, but mostly for wife and I to stay in touch if one of us is gone. I have also found, even with my hearing aids, a regular house phone is hard for me to hear on, so the cell is set up for aids. One of my daughters and her husband and kids came this weekend. She teaches photography and Journalism at a high school in the Katy, Tx area. They furnished her with an Ipad, complete with bells and whistles and my wife asked me if I wanted one. Tried daughter's and I don't think so. My cell is a dumb phone, and it fits my personna pretty well.

Same with ST and myself, she uses it like another appendage, I use like a second anchor, and I don't have any use for the primary anchor as it is.
Personally I hate the things, but they can be handy when you really need it.

I can't imagine having all the bells and whistles of a home computer with me all the time, I'd get absolutely nothing done.
The phone we have is an I- phone3 which does everything, and all I use it for is a couple of calls a month.

I can't imagine being a kid in todays world, never having known what it means to be disconnected.
I don't envy them in the slightest.

Nowadays gadgets and their countless "apps" have helped a multitude of people find a fun new way to waste time they could have spent on better purposes, getting devices to play nice with each other and the Internet.

I had to walk or ride a bike to get wherever I went. Today the kids are texting on telephones (a development A.G. Bell never thought of, but Samuel Morse should've).
