People are talking about shadowy government actors materializing outside of Federal buildings to whisk "protestors" away to our country's equivalent of Room 101. If they're surprised that police can act so effectively during times of unrest, it's only because they haven't paid attention to just how militarized our police have become. Turns out they're not spending all their civil forfeiture earnings on a foosball tables for their break rooms. It's helicopters, tanks, and M4 rifles, all for the benefit of local communities.

Should cops ever have military weapons? You can reasonably defend either position, but you never know if personal experience might one day change your mind.

The sheep doing the crimes pull back and blend in with the herd after committing their crime. The rest of the herd protects them. The only way they can be arrested is if nobody knows who the wolf is. These federal agents arresting the antifa members who are hell bent on destruction are not using tanks, or helicopters, etc, they are just doing their job. If the sheep are worried about an unidentified agent, don't commit the crime.

In a perfect world police would not need military type equipment to do their job. Unfortunately, our world is not Mayberry. Therefore, it is proper to equip our police with whatever they need to protect our citizens and cities.

Hear, hear. The argument against equipping police with "military-style weapons" runs into a big wall when you realize good people will inevitably die as the direct result.

Good people don't riot, burn and loot.  I know according to CNN all these peaceful protesters were just holding a bible study session when the nasty police in Sherman tanks rolled down the streets and started killing everyone in sight.  Any stragglers that managed to escape the tanks were chased down and shot with Apache Attack Helicopters.  Armed drones were also used.
