Can't disagree with you.  The Republicans were worried about winning elections. They felt they needed to compromise. The Democrats held control of Congress for 56 years and only 4 for Republicans in the Eisenhower years.  Republicans held the Senate for 10 years during the same time. He was the stop gap they did not want nor expected. Thus the full attack mode the last four years, hoping to indoctrinate the public with their control over the press. Amazingly, Trupm accomplished the unbelievable record despite the tirade against him. They knew  they could not win the 2020 election. They had no candidate and only the hate Trump policy. So what does any leftist do? They build an end-around the normal election method.  They sued states that would not change election laws.  They instituted universal mail out of ballots. Everyone knew it would end of badly. The more the left screams to get on with it, the more you know that a huge coverup is underway. 
Biden should have insisted that all claims be checked out to give credence to the election.

Agree. But I don't think they were all that spineless as evidenced by the last 4 decades of compromise in ripping off the taxpayer.
Well, I should say, that there was an unseen power that had taken over the GOP which held the power of the purse of reelection over incumbents heads like a cudgel.
I guess the term "Statesman" will soon be qualified as 'archaic' in many a thesaurus in the future.

Nailed it! What irritates me is the GOP rolled over and allowed this BS to occur. They sold it on the covid scare. It will take courage to reverse this, but it can be done by republican legislatures and governors.

It makes me wonder if all this Wuhan virus nonsense is related somehow. The Democrats used the virus as a way to justify mail in ballots, they would never have been allowed if it wasn't for the virus!

The worst words ever for a republic. That money came with strings, whether it was the school curriculum, the speed limits, or what you put in gasoline. If there could be one change I could make it would be to remove the strings, if the government has to bribe the states, it probably is not that good of an idea. I would suggest the states refuse the money, but I would get carried off to the funny farm.
