Title: Federal Regulations require the utility company to visually inspect all...
Post by: daidalos on March 21, 2016, 12:03:48 PM
Wiring and gas pipes in your home.

Yes that's right ladies and gents I was just informed of that by PUCO.

That's the Public Utilities commission of Ohio. Our governmental state agency that regulates our utilities here in Ohio.

The Federal Government now has granted itself, without a warrant, the right to walk into your home pretty much whenever they wish too, and must do so once every thirty six months.

Under the guise of doing an wiring/pipe inspection...

Uhuh, yeah right.

Get real and get a warrant.

I don't care who you say you are. The laws of this State, and our Constitution are very clear on the matter.

We have certain rights within, and on our own property. One such right is to be secure from unwarranted and unreasonable searching of our homes.

This American, doesn't surrender his rights, for just any old reason that some pencil pushing bureaucrap dreams up.

Secondly, PUC (Public Utility Commission) is a State "Public" entity, something the Fed has no jurisdiction over.

Just curious, what would the penalty be for refusing? If it was a single dwelling I can not see turning off the utilities for refusal, maybe they could justify if the dwelling was an apartment or attached building.

http://www.rrc.state.tx.us/media/8556/chap8-plansreportsfedsstate-natgas.pdf This I'm told lists All the feds regulations regarding natural gas. (don't know haven't read it all).

This however is the law they cited to me when I called P.U.C.O. about this.

http://www.phmsa.dot.gov/pipeline/naturalgas

This came up because two folks from some company showed up, saying they're going around our hood to do the survey, demanding entrance to the basement to see our gas pipes.

Being as odd as I am when it comes to strangers entering my home, I called the P.U.C.O. to verify this tale these two showed up at my door telling.

According to what they told me, the federal government assumed to itself, the power to not only force the States to allow/conduct them, but to also just show up and demand entry to your house so they can do these "survey's" back in 1968.

I know solar, I myself have a hard time believing this one too.

But, it does appear to me, that these two were telling the truth. That there really is such a regulation/rule/law.

However that said, my reply is still, the government may get a duly sworn and issued warrant if it wants to come in my house to look at my natural gas pipes.
