Don't watch the new movie which tells "the real story"  I was stupid enough to think it would be historical, but it was only preteen vampire fetish movie.

I wouldn't put too much stock into a narrowly focused investigation like that.

You-and-your-vehicle shouldn't look illogical while traveling.  That seems to be the problem.  There's no mention of game-wardens, who can pull-you-over too.  There's the Mounties, the Texas Rangers... you just can't attract attention to your vehicle, then vent at authorities for your-own unwittingness.
Kit, the U.S. border patrol is empowered too set up "check points" up too two hundred miles within the U.S. proper. That's almost the entire state of Ohio for example. THIS is what they're doing with those check points...

Illegal arrest and detainment for weeks long, with no charges ever being filed.

Telling a citizen they have no fifth amendment rights.

Border Patrol officers lying to the court

And the video's go on and on, of abuses of citizen's and their rights....

The law is absolutely clear, American citizen's have the RIGHT to travel, without impediment by government. The law is absolutely clear, a citizen doesn't have to answer a thing the cops ask them. Yeah it's policing for profit. What else can you call it but that, when law enforcement hassles citizen's in such a manner, even going so far as to lock a citizen up for half a month, for doing nothing but excercise of their rights under the laws of the State and Federal government.
Fwiw, ANY officer who lies to the court the way that guy did, should not only be a cop no longer, but should be in jail as well themselves.

This is a link to a Washington Post article detailing several cases of what I can only describe as road pirating by police. Ordinary citizens, small business owners traveling with cash have it seized under civil forfeiture laws without trial. The citizen must sue the government at their own expense to get it back. These guys make Somali pirates look like amateurs.

My take on this:

What has the drug war done for America?
It seems to me – nothing good is the answer.

Started in 1971, the war on drugs has been going on for 43 years. Longer then the civil war, WWI, WWII, Korean war, Vietnam Afghanistan and Iraq all combined – guess what?
We still have drugs.

We also have more people in prison then the people's republic of China does (and they have twice as many people). Militarized police? Asset confiscation?

And worse of all, we have a weakened constitution.
By allowing the federal government to use a flimsy excuse to grab a power that they are not granted in the constitution (namely, telling people what they can and cannot consume); we weaken the constitution. Then, when they use that same excuse to regulate guns, confiscate your property or any number of things that you do happen to care about – you will cry foul, and only then pay attention to the constitution and the limited and enumerated powers granted to the government.

What say you?
I'm actually a victim of just that. Hence my signature and asking folks for help. Because on my V.A. disability I can't afford what they want for the cities revenue enforcement.

And if I don't come up with the money, I get to go to jail instead. And all because of a lie, a hateful ass, vindictivef neighbor told the sheriff, regarding my dogs.

It is a dangerous world. We should be aware stuff happens and take precautions that we can, especially over the road. You might feel it is all right to keep a loaded handgun handy in your trips around town, and it probably is.  But, when you are an out of state
car, isn't it smarter to keep the  magazine in a separate locked compartment?  And the piece out of sight?
I am always suspicious of articles that breed fear and distrust of the police. We see a lot of them lately and they don't help.
