Just a few of the ones I liked....

Your dog has more Emergency Rations than 95% of the U.S. population.

You've ever been on a Soviet "Potential Threat" list.

SWAT has ever asked to borrow a few of your guns.

Your home and property are more secure and better lit than Fort Knox or Area 51.

You can recognize the sound of a generator from four blocks away, but you also can tell the brand, horsepower and kilowatts per hour that it is putting out.

You stock up on kerosene and firewood in 102 degree summer heat.

Your scanner includes the frequencies of every law enforcement agency within 100 miles, including the ones that don't officially exist.

You have a key fob that says, "What Would John Wayne Do?"

You know the news three days before it hits the mass media.

You've ever bought antibiotics for human use through a vet or grains for human consumption through a feed store.

You automatically choose the heavy duty flatbed cart upon entering Sam's or Costco.

You've ever considered digging an escape tunnel from your basement to the nearest stand of trees.

And my personal favorite....

You have a backup generator for your backup generator, which is a backup for your solar energy system. 8) 8) 8)

No but they ask for my wife sometimes.

You can recognize the sound of a generator from four blocks away, but you also can tell the brand, horsepower and kilowatts per hour that it is putting out.  I do know the sound of a generator when it is running from 1/2 mile away.

You stock up on kerosene and firewood in 102 degree summer heat.
I have move movable Propane Tanks that will last me 6 months if needed.

Your scanner includes the frequencies of every law enforcement agency within 100 miles, including the ones that don't officially exist.

It's way back in the forest, but when the guy brought in in 40 years ago, there was a nice road, now it's all over grown and I don't know how I could get it out.

But boy if there is a way? ;D

I have a propane furnace, a propane wall heater, and a propane cook-stove. I haven't bought propane in over a year, and I plan to keep things that way!

We run the cook-stove with one of those little gas bottles you can exchange at any convenient store or Walmart. One of those bottles will cook for us for MONTHS.

Winter heat is wood-fired all the way. We have a portable kerosene heater that we use when the temps dip REALLY low, and there's the odd electric heater for, well, odd use.

That ugly ol' cast iron woodstove has saved me more thousands of dollars than I can count.

My BIL made me a 7/16" iron woodstove.  You could put a 24" log into it.  It took about one hr. getting hot.  But once it was hot at could drive you out of the house if you over did it.  We could even burn coal in it.  Talk about a hot fire.  When we moved I let my other BIL have it for his log home he made.   Wood is all he is using for heat now.

First let me say - Your wife is awesome....

Solar and I too heat with a wood-stove just the front great-room..  I don't like the kitchen being heated as I can leave jars of pickles and things out.  The bedroom has a small propane wall heater which Solar turns on sometimes when he feels bad for me at the end of the day.  But at bedtime it is off and the window usually open.

As to cooking...propane all the way.... 8) 8)
