We have been running about 50º for the last two days.   :D  Snow is almost gone.  But then we have 2 more months yet.   8)

The first of March all the equipment they have work on all winter long fixing up, starts coming out of mothballs for working the fields.

Oh, you children! Just today, I finally pulled firewood out of the stockpile that I cut this year. Here in the "Heart of it All" we haven't seen freezing this month! Well, we can see freezing, we just have to look up...  :))

I read somewhere once (yeah, there's a reference for ya...) that the original wind-chill thing was based on jugs of water that were set out on the ice in Antarctica in varying conditions. They measured how long it took for the water to freeze. Of course, the water froze faster when the wind blew harder at a given temperature, but that's the result of a larger volume of air removing heat from the water.

It was probably someone's tax dollars at work.

Now are they using a North wind factor or a South wind factor.   Where I come from the North wind is always colder and wind from the South most always has the moister.   ;D   Then it also depends what you have on.   I alway look at a wind-chill chart only as a starting point.  It could be up or down.  When it gets down around 0º I start looking for inside work wind or no wind.  LOL

She just nods in agreement and closes the door in my face....
