Wilson Combat Arms

Very nice but slugs for home defence?
Not my first choice, I'm loaded up with #2 buck shot.
If it was easy everyone would be do'in it.

Slugs don't leave a whole lot to clean up.

I use both, slugs and shot, every other one alternating.
That way if I miss, the next one may do better. :))

Do you guys hand load? What about loading with flechettes or Piano wire? Especially for inside the home, piano wire might be a good idea.

I'm looking into reloading, but since I just bought a 12 ga pump, I have yet to stock up on the right shells for reloading.
Piano wire is an excellent shot, but I wonder if it's illegal in Ca.
It's amazing the crap you can put in a shot gun shell, kind of like a signature of the shooter for the perp when he goes to the emergency room to get a kids toy dislodged from his ass along with all the rock salt still making itself known. :))

I only reload shotgun shells, the rest of my ammo I buy commercially.

Seems to me we used to call that the "Cocktail Load"....as in mixed.
A lot of options here. ;)

Feeling lucky Punk?
Will the next load be bird shot and make your ass burn, or will it be just a few balls that will cut you in two? :))

Check out http://www.theboxotruth.com for some info on shotgun loads/testing/what works.  In general, not much is better than a slug or 00 buck.  And you still need to aim it!

Not much IS better than Slugs or buck, for conventional purposes. Sometimes though, unusual loads might be more effective for specific applications. Having the ability to handload would be a good resource in a long term scenario where repelling looters is a potential.
