A pretty good article about the stages of a mass shooter, or mass murderer. https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2019/08/mass_shootings_the_elephant_in_the_room.html
I like the fact that the article does not take the easy street and try to blame objects or other people for what make a killer go off. This is not the kind of article that will be discussed on any of the lsm media because it does place the blame on the killer, and is straight forward. One question that I do wonder, why is there no media outlet, no politician, no law enforcement, ect. coming out and telling people to get trained to protect themselves? We can not really change the mind of someone intending to mass kill when they are holding it in, but we can protect our loved ones, our forefather died to give us that right. I was surprised to see that only 1.5% have a permit in El Paso county. https://www.chron.com/houston/article/The-Texas-counties-with-the-most-gun-licenses-per-7464669.php
Much of that OP made sense, it wasn't until the end that you realized you were in NRA corporate spin land. Gun control would help greatly and it is demonstrated in other nations. A second comment in the OP was that these things have always happened. I am old enough to know that is BS too. Of course we have our Timothy McVeigh terrorists, government is their target. The pieces below better explain the situation, the whys, the shooters, and helpful solutions.

"Fourth, the shooters all had the means to carry out their plans. Once someone decides life is no longer worth living and that murdering others would be a proper revenge, only means and opportunity stand in the way of another mass shooting. Is an appropriate shooting site accessible? Can the would-be shooter obtain firearms? In 80% of school shootings, perpetrators got their weapons from family members, according to our data. Workplace shooters tended to use handguns they legally owned. Other public shooters were more likely to acquire them illegally."
The shooters
"The shooter is almost always male. Of the past 129 mass shootings in the United States, all but three have been men. The shooter is socially alienated, and he can't get laid. Every time you scratch the surface of the latest mass killing, in a movie theatre, a school, the streets of Paris or an abortion clinic, you find the weaponised loser. From Jihadi John of ISIS to Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris at Columbine, these men are invariably stuck in the emotional life of an adolescent. They always struggle with self-esteem – especially regarding women – and sometimes they give up entirely on the possibility of amorous fulfilment. There are different levels of tactical coordination, different ostensible grievances and different access to firearms, but the psyche beneath is invariably the same." https://aeon.co/essays/humiliation-and-rage-how-toxic-masculinity-fuels-mass-shootings

When one considers most of the mass shootings have been by governments on their own people, why would you ask for more gun control? Gun control means nothing to the criminal or the insane, yet there are those who say the answer is to take away the rights of law abiding citizens.

You make good points here. I've always been an advocate for more gun training and putting guns in the hands of law abiding citizens. There are more good gun owners then there are irresponsible, and that could lead to a big change in the way we handle these mass shootings.

Such an infantile approach to murder, blame an inanimate object, when in fact the gun is the least destructive option available.
How about you quit derailing the thread and stick to the topic, mental instability.
The worst mass killings were not carried out using quns, that's too inefficient.
What you fail to notice is, all of these were preventable. For example, the Garlic Festival, the fuckin Pols made it a "Gun Free Zone". What does that tell a potential terrorist? That they have caged monkeys in a false sense of security.
By comparison, look around the country at the States/Cities that prefer their citizens be armed, and compare those stats.
Idiot libs are all about blaming the innocent for the actions of the mentally insane. How is it you cannot see the devious plan behind Pols who demand law abiding citizens disarm, as if somehow that will magically stop mass murders. All it will do is leave the citizens unarmed for when a leftist govt gains control.
Want proof guns aren't the issue? Note the worst killings in the world, and this doesn't include govts or dictators, that's a whole other level of insane.

Lest we forget?
The 1927 Bombing That Remains America's Deadliest School Massacre
"There was a pile of children about five or six under the roof and some of them had arms sticking out, some had legs, and some just their heads sticking out. They were unrecognizable because they were covered with dust, plaster and blood," wrote local author Monty J. Ellsworth in his 1927 account, The Bath School Disaster. "It is a miracle that many parents didn't lose their minds before the task of getting their children out of the ruins was completed. It was between five and six o'clock that evening before the last child was taken out."
As community members rushed to help after the explosion, getting rope to lift up the collapsed roof and pull the students and teachers from the rubble, a member of the school board named Andrew Kehoe drove up to the site. Kehoe stepped out of his truck filled with dynamite and shrapnel, aimed his rifle at it, and fired. The ensuing explosion killed the school superintendent, several other bystanders, and Kehoe himself.
In addition to the hundreds of pounds of explosives that had set off the blast at the school, fire department personnel and police officers found another 500 pounds of unexploded pyrotol dynamite rigged up around the school's basement, along with a container of gasoline that may have been placed there to cause a fire if the dynamite failed. Kehoe had also burned his farmhouse and killed his wife and two horses; their bodies were discovered at the farm, along with a sign attached to the property fence that read, "Criminals are made, not born."
