Wonder if there's a 380 carbine/rifle to match up with one of those little 380 pocket carry pistols....

The other one would be a .40 cal carbine.... LOL

LOL...yep.  Not sure I ever saw a 380 lever gun...or ever WANT to.  LOL

Although, I HAVE seen a 32 lever gun.  One of the very first center fire rounds Winchester offered for their 92 was the 32/20.  ;~)

Actually, Hi Point really DOES make a .380 acp, semi auto rifle.

250 bucks ain't bad for a brand new semi auto rifle in any caliber bigger than 22.  LOL

Hi Point, Kel-Tec and others actually also make carbines in .40 S&W and I'm not sure, but I think they build 10mm too.  I KNOW Hi Point makes a 9mm cause I've shot one those a lot.  Not the best thing I've ever shot, but not bad.

A lot of makers, make or have made 45 acp over the years.  Of course, the only ones of all those acp rounds I'd consider worthy due to the ammo availability would be 9mm and 45 acp.  Although, with so many cops and Obama's federal storm troopers buying up billions of rounds of 40 S&W...should be plenty of them available if the plop hits the prop.  ;~)

But honestly, I wouldn't want any ACP smaller than a 10mm or 45 acp as a hunting round.  And since Obama's 40 cal ammo for the fed is loaded to be slow, low recoil, 1000 fps or less man stoppers...and the hotter 10mm ammo ain't that common, I'd opt for the 45 acp.  45 acp is a lot of thump for the buck.  In a handgun OR in carbine rifle.

That's IF...you're really thinking along the lines of semi auto.

Of course, if you look hard enough, you may come across one of the coolest semi auto carbines ever made.  The Ruger 99/44.  A 10/22 on 44 magnum steroids.  ;~)

Talked about it with the wifey, she likes the idea of a 40 cal carbine.

Even better if the same pistol magazine just slips into the rifle!

Until something more interesting comes along, one of my 2 gun pick is a .40 ACP small enough to easily carry, plenty of power & accuracy. With a 7-10 round magazine, it's plenty heavy with 180 grain bullets.  Since the cops use them, ammo should be plentiful... if you know the right people.  My choice, is a Kimber Ultra-carry.  I've read some awful reviews of the Kimber, but it's really a well made, and more accurate than the bigger/longer versions.  Like any semi-auto, new it's stiff, 200-300 rnds later, it's as silky smooth as they get, and just keeps impressing everyone who tries it out.   "How can this short barreled gun have such tight groups?  It's tighter than then bigger & longer Pro-Carry & fast on-target!"  Expensive, yes, reliable & accurate, absolutely.  The checkered, rubberized grips make it "hand sticky" - it does not slide around, shift or move until you open your hand.  Easy to carry, fast & accurate, it 'feels' quite comfortable in your hand.

An all-around favorite "rifle", a simple 12 gauge Browning Pump Shotgun (BPS), with a 26" shot/smooth barrel and a 24" Hastings rifled slug barrel, cantilevered scope mount, 2-7 power 40mm or some other light sucking scope.   The all-purpose, 100% trouble free, gun I've ever known - recoil sucks, but it's a well made, inexpensive, reliable, easy to clean/maintain gun.  In an area where rifle hunting is banned, but slug guns are allowed, it's been a great "utility" gun for varmints, skeet/trap & deer (rifled slug barrel).   Unique to a BPS, it ejects out the bottom, so a right-handed or left-handed person can do just fine with it.  The one I found has an "English Stock", not a "Montecarlo Stock" - so it's really skinny & easy to carry one handed.   Light weight, short enough to maneuver through thick brush, quick to break down, pack it with either or both barrels...  By no means my favorite, but it'd be the last one I'd part with.

Wifey...?  She likes the .40 H&K USP, the slide is easier & the additional weight helps her steady & get on target faster (must be a short person thing..?).  Any rifle or shotgun she picks up, she does exceptionally well with, a real natural shooter.  whereas I have to concentrate, breathe just right, and melt into the stock, she just picks it up, barely seems to aim, and bam-bam-bam... "How did she do that?  Did she have time to aim?  Psst... don't ever cheat on her..."

I've had really good luck with used (often barely used) guns that didn't please the original purchaser.  Prices have always been better, and more often than not, the reason for return is more cosmetic than functional.  Who knows, maybe their buddies shamed them into peddling it, "You bought a BPS!?  snicker-snicker...  Jap crap - trade it for a Belguim!"   When I picked it up, cheap, it looked some someone cleaned it, fired it 5 times and put it back in the box.  Same with other guns - you'd think they jammed, didn't feed right and the owner didn't take the time to figure out what grain ammo it likes, they just returned it, barely used, definitely not broken in.  The one time I didn't buy from a gun smith was that junker Savage 250-3000, a real disappointment, and potentially dangerous.

Prices are NOT up on your average gun, sales are thru-da-roof!

http://freebeacon.com/issues/june-gun-sales-crush-previous-record/
QuoteJune's record comes as gun and ammunition dealers have seen spikes in sales following the deadly terror attack in Orlando, Florida and a subsequent push for new gun control measures in the House and Senate. Some companies saw a five-fold increase in sales during the weeks following the attack and legislative push.

"Yes, we have seen a dramatic spike in sales volume (around five times normal levels) especially in the .223/5.56 caliber and to a lesser extent 9mm, .45 ACP, and .308 but the increase is definitely across the board," Scott Blick, managing partner at Ammunition Depot, told the Washington Free Beacon in June.

Now if the price of lead shot came down, I'd be even happier!
