We had a Siamese house cat that was a great hunter.  Every time he got out, he always brought back a "present" and left it on the door step.

Our current cat, a grey tiger, is the best hunter we've ever had on the farm.

A long time ago when Wifey went to the pound for a cat, I asked her to bring back a tiger kitty, not a black one.
She brought home the friendliest cat - a black one.  She hunted ok...  I think the varmints see a solid color, easier than a striped color.

This time, she brought home a grey tiger, she's about 10-11 years old, and still catches a couple a day around the farm.
She also -knows- the dogs can't touch her (without discipline), so she teases them, they'll be snoring away, she swats them across the muzzle.
