Panic buying spiking gun and ammo prices... again!

The beginning of the month, New, Fiocchi .233 remington, 62grain, FMJ was selling for .26 per round in lots of 1000 at the Lynchburg, VA gun show.
Today, on ammoseek - you can't find it, the next closest thing is .50 per round.

This is nuts.

I've been waiting for the price of Lead Shot to bottom, so wifey and I can shoot trap again, it's WAS just starting to fall - but, Walmart is cheaper than I can reload at $22 for 100 rounds of 12 or 20 gauge trap loads.   I can't reload at that price.   And, trust me, when you shoot trap, you burn trough a pile of shells!   We just got a doubles-thrower, couple of boxes of clays... couple of boxes of trap loads - now I wonder if maybe I ought to SAVE it, rather than have fun Saturday, blasting away like the Rednecks we are!?

Sigh.  Gone are the days of reloading buckets of shells and blasting away the afternoon, snacking on BBQ ribs off the grill and just acting silly.
Might as well go surf Fishing, before that becomes illegal, endangered, banned or something.

I'll never understand people who panic buy. I have always been one to be prepared, be it food or ammo. But the problem effects us all because these morons make everything scarce for those of us still normal buying.
Now if you want something like chicken, you can only buy one, assuming it's even available.

I saw this coming months ago, so I asked the wife, is there anything we need to replenish? She said, just TP, so like we normally do, we ordered a 6 month supply.

It's the hoarders I don't get. Even if a person panic buys, buy what they need, ok, the store will recover. But when they panic buy, wipe out the store, be there first thing in the morning to do it all over again the rest of society pays the price. I remember after y2k, on January 2nd, people wanting to return hundreds of gallons of water, this time it will be returning toilet paper.Nobody is for price gorging, but it does slow down the hoarders.

I am see posts on store doors that they will not take things back after one week.

Most people call me a prepper, but we accumulated our supplies over a year to get what we needed, and now that SHTF, we don't have a thing to worry about. It was our insurance plan, not because we expected anything like this, but because we live in a fire prone area as well as valley quakes that could disrupt supply chains.
It's waiting ill the last second and buying more than a couple of months supply that causes the problem, or idiots thinking they can capitalize off a tragedy. These people cause all the headaches.

It's funny, I just went to the hardware store for a single freakin bolt, and they had a huge supply of off brand TP. No one ever thinks to hit the smaller town stores where they stock a little bit of everything.

  Even in times of a crisis, stores can supply us if people keep their same routine. We can go 6 months pretty much all the time, but we, like I am sure you too, know how much we need to go that long. There are too many who think they need half the damn store to last two weeks. And a 1000 rolls of toilet paper.  :scared:

Same here. The wife hits Costco and Sams club and we buy for 6 months, we've always done it that way. Now when the time comes, we'll be forced to go every damn week because the stocks will be limited, increasing our odds of contracting a bug.

We sell items at HAMfests, and have never limited purchases.  In fact, we'll offer FREE SHIPPING if they'll pay on the spot.  I'm in business to turn over money, as fast as I can, and suck out a little profit in the process.   I'll take all the panic buyers I can get, since I'm the producer/manufacturer - LOL.

What I don't like, the materials I need to build, becoming difficult to find at a cost effective/competitive price.

6mo ago, maybe 10, I came home with 6 cases of my favorite Corned Beef Hash, Aldi brand.  The kids finally got sick of every meal of it.... leaving us with 4 cases.  Same thing happens with anything *new*, I buy a bunch, they get past the eat-it-every-meal stage, and the pantry gets a new item.  It sure is great to NOT worry about shortages.

We had 2 +700lb pigs butchered & wrapped, yielding 535lbs of pork or 2 freezers full.   Wifey, the farmer, was feeding them sweet feed the last couple of months, the pork has a faint molasses odor... and is the BEST EVER!!!!  So, the kids are eating pork at least 1 time a day, till they get tired of it... the balance will last for a couple of years, vacuum packaged, in the freezers.

The garden goes back in this week, Wifey put down plastic to heat up the soil for early planting, the tiller goes back on the tractor... maybe today.  She's taking the kids to the auction barn to buy feeder steers or bottle babies, so we won't have to MOW the damn pasture, or beg someone bale and steal it from us.

It can't be called "panic" when you have liberal Democrats simultaneously advocating for gun control, defunding law enforcement, uplifting criminals and staying quiet on the chaos and anarchy that they seem to promote and love. I can't say that I blame the masses for purchasing the means to defend themselves, this is going to get ugly real fast.

Personally, I loaded my AR15 clips just in case...

My question would be, WHY do you have empty clips?  Do you think someone will wait for you to load them, when you need them?

No, I don't think that an aggressor would wait for me to load them. I guess I was just thinking that I would never need them for defense as I have my handgun always on me. Now that lunacy has taken over and people are advocating for defunding law enforcement, I guess I think that they may be needed now.

Does your state have a lot of that? So far we only have Austin that is advocating de funding the police and the governor put them in their place pretty quick.

No, there isn't a lot of it here however, I don't want to wait until anarchy reins to load the clips. If rioters/aggressors come on my property or attack my family, I want to be ready.

good question!  A recent video showed the springs do not lose their tension over the years, like we were told, so just keep them loaded... for that snarling coyote, rabid skunk or ... Raccoon who refuses to drink the special cocktail.
