I'm not a survivalist and I don't want to save the planet.  I just want to bake cookies and biscuits in a box lined with tin foil because it sounds fun.  Has anyone here tried this.

Solar and Solars Toy may have done it. They believe in solar everything except for solar heat during Winter~ I think.  ;)

Yes, I built one more than thirty years ago, and loved it, cooked chicken and all kinds of stews in it.
But cookies? That could be a problem, baking in one will take patients, seeing how you will have to sit and watch it, being that it is dependent on the time of day, ambient temperature, and occasional clouds.

Good luck trying, that is half the fun. 8)

I've baked with a cardboard box lined with aluminum foil -- using the hot coals from a wood fire -- as a Girl Scout project. It's amazing how well this simple contraption works!

We once spent an entire weekend cooking every meal using atypical methods. We made delicious baked potatos by wrapping them in aluminum foil and placing them in a metal pail filled with sand -- then setting the pail on hot coals for an hour.

Of course, there's the bunson burner, made from a coffee can, which works extremely well for a variety of foods -- albiet on a small scale.

Investing in cast iron and enameled cookware is helpful.

We make many of our meals over the 'camp fire' while at our cottage.  It's fun!

:-[  Ummmm maybe ....

Well in my defense, my teacher was the one that told the class that it was hot enough to cook and egg on the hood of a car..... she really should have known better. ~ It was my parents car....and I sprayed Pam on it first....the eggs just slid down slowly...they did cook a bit, but when I tried to clean it I noticed the paint was messed up so I washed the car (which my mom appreciated)...well until...............  :))

Sadly that is NOT the worst thing I did to my parents car hehehe

Thats too funny!
I remember one of my friends egged a car and the people sued his parents for the cost of a paint job.
The egg had been on the car all weekend, and it literally ate the paint off the car. :o

LOL is that all.  My day would have work my butt off all Summer long.  I remember putting a arrow into a new neon sign way back when they first came out. It was a very, very long hot Summer that year for me.  ;D
