If this is still LIVE when you read this, just listen to the Hurricane coverage, live from the streets.

A CAT-4 hurricane, and a heck of a lot of people stayed behind.  Reporters interviewing people on the streets, joggers, cars driving by...   Kinda stunning to see this much activity in the path of an approaching CAT-4 disaster.  One reporter says, "we've never seen anything like this, the devastation will be tremendous!"... yet, they are just kinda hanging out, cameras rolling.  Reporter says, 'Ya'll in Polk City, ya got a twister headed your way, maybe more, 35mph, yep, it's a doosey!   We'll try to get a camera over there, get some live action!  There'll be more 'spin-ups' - maybe we'll catch another one...!  Opps!, we got Jason driving around Miami, looking for more damage, he's in the path of likely tornados, seeing anything, there, buddy?"

You'd think, after a week of warning, Florida would be empty.     I guess you can't live forever... but this is like standing in the "10 Items or Less Check-Out-of-Life Lane".

"First Aid Kit?  Naaa... Oh wait - yeah, bring one, just in case I survive my injuries!!!"    "Fred!  We got a fresh spawned, rip-roaring twister headed right at ya!   See if you can get some good footage!"   :scared:  "Fred?  Fred!  We just lost Fred, nuts..."

And I've been accused of watching Auto racing, just to see the wrecks!?   Hell, man, this is better than football - except it's real life, not some video game.

"We want you to take this seriously, folks, take cover immediately!  ... back to Fred, hmm... can you turn the camera back, it looks like it's laying on the ground... Opps, I think that's Fred is laying there too...  "   What would you say at Fred's funeral?  His last words were, "Hey guys, hold my beer and watch this!!!"  Trying really hard to see the difference in levels of stupidity.

"We got another one, headed down Brohard St. in Polk county, got a live feed from a traffic cam, hey, that's Holly's house - she decided to ride-it-out with her kids ....  BOOM!  cut to commercial, cut to commercial..."   I don't get it.

...and I hate to say this, but my degree of sympathy for these weather-heros is diminishing.   If that's your job ... nevermind.   This is the kind of stuff that drives Utility workers and First Responders crazy.   People who think they're invincible, clogging up the pathways you need to access to restore basic services.

If we wanted to get some kind of idea of a SHTF scenario, this Hurricane Irma might be a slice-of-disaster, meaning, there will be people staying in the path of an oncoming train-wreck, just to get the video as-it-happens.  As for me, I'm getting the hell OUT!

Bought another chain saw, now we got 3.  One is an old McCulloch, when it does run, it's a little devil on trees - I love it.  The newer ones, both from TSC, Jonserds are nearly idiot-proof, run great ... so good I bought a 2nd unit, the one barely a year old.   Last time I needed it, the blade was dull, and the tree blocking the road was so big, it took us over an hour to get enough branches clear for traffic to pass.   It'll happen again, trees blocking the roads, two saws will make quick work, and I can carry one in the service truck if I need to, leaving the other at home.

Where we live, it'd take hours, if not a day, for the HWY department to get the tree off the road - we can get it done quicker, just us farmers, and leave those guys to more pressing matters.  But, you're not going to see one of us jogging down the road in a superman suit during tornado weather.  Every experience with this bad stuff, is another reminder, 'better stock up on that item...'

To think, Caligula used slaves and prisoners for battle/entertainment.
Here we are watching volunteers to the slaughter for our entertainment? As PT Barnum used to say, "This Way to the Great Egress!"

QuoteUsually when a person prepares for a hurricane, there a few things on their mind: food, water, shelter and, if possible, a generator to help them weather the storm.

But as Hurricane Irma makes its way through Florida, some people in the state who decided not to evacuate are preoccupied with some rather, um, interesting activities.

Take, for example, the Miami man who said to an NBC news anchor on live television that he was going to tie himself to a post when Irma hits.

Sure...  when the drugs wear off, if you're not chumming for sharks, and still alive, we can expect to find you shivering & crying like a 3 year old with wrinkled skin of a 90 yr old.  Sorry, I feel no sympathy, but, maybe there's a bar-fly babe in it for ya.

QuoteIn another live-television interview on CBS4, a kid said that he and his family aren't evacuating Florida because "we are savages."

No... savages don't wear polo shirts, and hunt down news reporters.  You're just begging Darwin to pay you a visit.

QuoteOn Friday morning, a man, identified only as Greg, was caught on video kitesurfing in Delray Beach in Palm Beach County Friday morning.

Greg told CBS 12 that he wanted to take advantage of the high waves and fast wind brought on by Hurricane Irma.

Meh... probably won't be seeing much more of him... at least in Palm Beach County - maybe he'll turn up in Atlanta, gift wrapped in kite string.

QuoteThis man, donning what appears to be a snorkeling mask, said that "he's going ride out Hurricane Irma in a store front on Duval Street," according to the Miami Herald's David Ovalle.

Another one... Drugs can do that to ya.   So the guy is standing there...  ready to take on McGregor in the next MMA fight.

I'm actually impressed by colossal ignorance.  How'd you get to be so stupid?

Where'd they get this stuff?   Watching that move "Airbenders"...?

If I HAD to choose between Texas and Florida to live... that's an easy one.   Who would want idiots like these for neighbors?

Do you feel sorrow for the Police, Fire & First Responders in Florida?   Yeah... and the Garbage Collectors, who gotta scrape the carcasses of these zombies off the sidewalks.

Imagine the Norks seeing this nonsense... "What do we need nukes for?  Those silly Americans are killing themselves!"
