Okay, I'm pickin' Ricky Fowler.  He just seems due.   And I predict his color-scheme will be red, orange, blue, then green.  Sergio Garcia's dangerous, though.  I can't really see past those two guys in the winner's circle.  If Phil's there, he's there.  Everybody's picking 'im.

I didn't get practice round tickets this year, but have been several times. For those who have never been, words and TV do not do Augusta National as beautiful as it is.

Agrees.  I've only been-by-there pre-tournament time, when they're prepping the course.

As for Thursday's opening round: very satisfying for all, except for 3-of-the-last-4 majors-champs... Phil, Dufner, and Rose.  A bad experience on one hole can ruin the entire event.

Phil had 'the shot of the day' tho...  nailing a long, inverted L-shaped putt.

Gotta love Sergio's hired killer attitude, firing a shot directly into the crowd, knowing they'll 'stop' its momentum so he's left with a favorable approach to the green... after an impossible lie on 18.

The fairways should be firmer today, to match the greens.

I like Scott, since Philly is out.  I like Watson too.

It's setting-up for a seething, hissing, dust-twisting lizard-fight.  The experience of Watson and Scott isn't really helping them much.  The greens are too fast.  -Which may help some of the warhorses like Jimenez, Couples, and Westwood.

Fowler's right there though, 2 shots behind.

CBS's usual hero-worshipping mode is always a downer.  And it disrupts the real time flow of the round.

I never jump on the Couples bandwagon.  I always want him to win of course, but he's told old to withstand 4 days of that course.

I had a feeling about Watson.  I just like him for some reason.

Yep.  Congrats to 'im.  Though the drama refused to mount as the day progressed.  Nobody did anything.  They all stayed around even-par.  It felt more like the British Open.
