It's been a great evening here in Belgrade, Serbia. What a festival of beauty. Third day of World Grand Prix Pool F weekend.

Netherlands practically did a training match with Algeria: 3-0 (25-15, 25-07, 25-06).

And a derby after. USA and Serbia: 3-2 (25-14, 22-25, 25-17, 23-25, 15-12). Close match, I think USA girls were physically stronger, and more stable as a team.

Made some photos. I think I've got a crush on that Dutch Dijkema girl No. 14. But USA Gibbemeyer girl No.8 isn't bad either.  :blushing: Laura and Lauren, hmmm, maybe there's something in the name...

I'm happy you liked them, Solar.

Algerian girls looked like some high school team. Duch appeared young and gentle, but powerful on the court. Serbian were notably taller and more experienced. But when I saw American girls, it was like OMG, a bunch of lady Rambos who will kick our asses out of the court and seats, too.

I was a combat photographer in the Army, pretty much mundane most of the time with presentations, Congressional arrivals, generals inspecting the troops etc.
But what you're doing?

It's nice to be a photographer. I like photography for its nostalgic meaning. We capture unique moments in human history, so that we could remember them later. As someone stated: "I would give all paintings of Jesus for just one photograph." (Not that I would do such a thing, it was just a metaphor.)

Long time ago I have inherited some money, and decided to buy a Leica MP photo camera, with Summilux-M f1,4/50mm ASPH. lens. It was such a pure mechanical pleasure, both the body and the lens. Not that I was a great photographer, but the experience itself was unbeatable. Unfortunately, it happened some time later that I needed some money, so I was forced to sell my Leica. But still I think Summilux-M f1,4/50mm ASPH. is the best lens ever made, for its contrast and sharpness and bokeh and no distortion at all, which is all incredible achievement for a f1,4/50mm lens.

Now I use Olympus XZ-1 with white body (black was a bit slippy), it is a wonderful little compact camera, with great bright 28-112mm f1,8-2,5 zoom lens. Superb image quality, with high micro contrast and details. I have done this shooting inside the sports hall easily with ISO 200 and mostly 1/100s or 1/125s, at maximum zoom. I lack of a depth of field control, although it is achievable with maximum zoom and close focus. This lens is better than the standard DSLR kit zoom lenses.

The cameras I used in the army were the Graflex sport media, the same one you would see in 1940s movies, where the reporter has to change the flash bulb after every shot, the other, a Graflex 5x7 bellows camera, even have on here on the shelf.
But my camera of choice was my Yashiki Mat 124G twin lens reflex, only because on Army pay of $193. per month, the Hasselblad was out of reach.

But these days, a Kodak 9 MG will suffice.
