Since buying the Redskins in 1999, Dan Snyder has gone through six, mostly big-name coaches. He lives for the splashy hire.

Snyder's iitchy trigger finger makes current head man Jay Gruden the heavy favorite to be the first NFL coach fired in 2015.

Odds on first coach to be fired
Jay Gruden, Washington   +251
Mike Pettine, Cleveland   +552
Ken Whisenhunt, Tenn.   +753
Jim Tomsula, San Fran   +1,209
Joe Philbin, Miami   +1,514
Sean Payton, New Orleans   +1,514
Gus Bradley, Jacksonville   +1,819
Chip Kelly, Philadelphia   +1,850
Lovie Smith, Tampa Bay   +2,023
Jeff Fisher, St. Louis   +2,536
BookMaker Sportsbook lists Gruden as a +251 favorite despite the fact he's entering just his second season. With the SportsLine Projection Model forecasting 5.4 wins for Washington after last season's 4-12 disaster, oddsmakers have Gruden priced appropriately.

I hope Gruden has his Go Bag handy!

Aren't ya kinda rushin' the season a bit?  The Skins still have close to a hundred guys on the roster.

I'm not but the sports writers are. It doesn't hurt to speculate a little, since it keeps the ratings alive.

Just watched the Skins smack the Lions, and I think they came from 16-points down to beat Cleveland last week.

Gruden will be fine, but Griffin's gotta go.  He still plays a 90-year-old, shambling in the pocket, fumbling twice... the second one by himself.  Then he fell on the ball and got spatula'd like a fried egg.

Cousins and McCoy are good backups.  Washington may be looking at 7 wins.

It's stuff like this that gets coaches fired, especially with an owner like Snyder. There is no call for what Gruden has done to this young man. The NFL's policy on concussion protocol is in place to protect the players from serious injury, not to please the coach.

QuoteNFL coach: Jay Gruden let RG3 take beating on purpose

By Steve DelVecchio

Robert Griffin III sustained a "minor" concussion last week in a preseason game against the Lions. RG3 took hit after hit from a ferocious Detroit front seven, but Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden kept sending him back onto the field.

At least one NFL head coach has questioned Gruden's intentions.

Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report says he spoke with an NFL head coach who expressed shock over the way Gruden has been treating Griffin.

The announcers didn't point-out any coaching shenanigans.  Griffin came out, looked shaky, stayed shaky as Detroit opened with interior blitzing.  Griffin chose to not leave the pocket.  He's just too small for the position if he chooses not to use his speed.

He was injured by falling sideways onto the-ball-he-fumbled and somebody pancaked him.  Griffin's play is giving Washington fans a concussion.  -The mental variety.

Time will tell what Gruden's fate will be Kit.

After Philbin, the next to be axed-list is probably shaping-up as Kelly, Smith, Tomsula, and Pagano (Colts... refused multi-year deal).

I also look for John Harbaugh to 'resign'...  alongwith Andy Reid, who'll become Chiefs GM.

Toldja...  Washington's fine.   And Chip Kelly was booted.

Not many of my other predictions came-through this season though.  For some reason, the Packers and Steelers are still hangin' around.

Biggest surprises:  the Cardinals' win-count, and the Jets.

Now Pagano's gone.

Hey, Jim.  When they offer you a multi-year deal, sign it.  That way, if they fire you after 1 year, you still get most of the money.

Who was it; Madden- ? who signed a 1-year contract every season.  That was ceremonial, Jim.  Not a wise career-trend these days.
