US government tells computer users to disable Java

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is advising people to temporarily disable the Java software on their computers to avoid potential hacking attacks.

The recommendation came in an advisory issued late Thursday, following up on concerns raised by computer security experts.

Yeah, this whole thing is crazy.

One thing for people to understand, Java is NOT JavaScript -- the are totally and completely not the same thing and not related at all.  This is indeed an issue with Java.

As I understand the problem is with version 7 10

7 11 is available and is supposedly a fix for the issue.  Fire up Java from your control panel and click on update.

The update process will re-enabl java if you had disabled it.


Anyone know different pipe up!
