'Anonymous' hackers target US security think tank.

snip~
LONDON — The loose-knit hacking movement "Anonymous" claimed Sunday to have stolen thousands of credit card numbers and other personal information belonging to clients of U.S.-based security think tank Stratfor. One hacker said the goal was to pilfer funds from individuals' accounts to give away as Christmas donations, and some victims confirmed unauthorized transactions linked to their credit cards.

I was told that crooks can take some little hand held device to the store and swipe your card information while you are paying. The thieves always seem to be one step ahead.
If you believe big government is the solution then you are a liberal. If you believe big government is the problem then you are a conservative.

Some of the new card have radio frequency identification chips.  All you need is a computer and the right program.  If you have a RFID reader you can read C/cards and P/port cards, with out runing them through a card reader.  You can make your own RFID Blocking Wallet or pay 19 to 30 $ for one.
RFID chips now exist in:

  • Chase's Blink Credit Card
  • Mastercard PayPass Credit Card
  • Many Corporate IDs
  • Many University IDs
  • United States Passports
  • Euro Passports
    etc...

If the current inflation rate continues for the next 5-10 years, I wouldn't be surprised if we actually do see some of those in circulation.

It just might cover the down payment on a new (gov subsidized green) car.

These wallets are a piece of CRAP! I thought hey, lets get one of those cool Alumna Wallets so I won't get my identity stolen. The thing broke in like a week. Like you said, you can't carry any money in this thing at all. Best stick with LifeLock or my taser I carry around. Hopefully the second one because that would be more fun :D

Noticed that about it, you can't open it all the way without breaking it.
After putting all my important cards in it, I couldn't close it.
I wound up putting only my ID and credit card in it and still could,'t put any money in it.
I need all that other crap with me, so I shit canned it and went back to my 30 year old wallet......
