I love it when smart people do smart things.  It sounds like instead of your computer booting up, reading your hard drive, etc., it is just ready to go in memory.  Interesting.

Super cool hardware!  :P :P :P

The general idea has been around for a while. Heck, my old Commodore 64 booted the OS from an on-board ROM chip, as did the TI99-4/A and many others of that time. But this is the first time I've seen the two types of memory residing on a single device. Nifty!

The concept of being able to reboot an entire data center, for instance, is incredible....

I wish them luck.  We'll all benefit.

Although this immediately reminded me of FRAM or FeRAM that promised the same thing, though I haven't seen it in use.

And then there was core memory.  Remember core?  No?
Remember the Apollo 13 movie?  They turned off the computer to save power during the return from the moon and when the time was right, they didn't boot it, they just turned it on because the memory technology was non-volatile core memory.  (But of course your wristwatch has more memory today.)

LOL, I remember that, each of those chipsets cost more than most made in a lifetime.
I remember the first digital watch from Sony, I think, my friend bought one through PACEX when we were in Korea, he paid nearly a thousand bucks...
And it only flashed the time in red led.

I had one, and wore it in the sauna.
Someone asked me why the numbers were running really fast, when I looked at my watch, it exploded on my wrist, didn't hurt though, but the insides were trashed.
I guess the battery couldn't take the heat.

I haven't worn one since the first time I died.
I didn't realize it, but apparently people that survive a near death experience, quit wearing watches after they recover.

Damn, being dyslexic, I I think one thing and write another.
It should have read near death, seeing how they revived me, I guess it wasn't really death.
Although, I do remember leaving my ass on the pavement and moving on, till they started pounding on my chest, I really was ready to move on. :o

U_Kay

WOW!!  :o How interesting!

And you said it happened twice??
