Just curious...
Anyone get hit with Ransomware? I haven't, we run Malwarebytes on a regular basis, but, I've never seen anything show up... in a long, long time, just a "tracking cookie" occasionally. Pretty satisfied with Malwarebytes, it's FAST... I guess it's doing the right job.
Might help that we limit where we go on the web, but I've wondered about following some of those links from time to time.
I got hit a couple of weeks back, couldn't close the page, so I tried closing all the pages, still blocked me, so I did a Cntr Alt Del and shut everything down I knew shouldn't be running.
Haven't had an issue since. I blame it on a redirect link to an article I was reading on a tech site, found out the site had been hacked, that there were no redirect links to page two of the article. :sneaky:

Just named the very thing I'm afraid of, after going to a site I visit on a regular basis, finding out I'm infected because the site was hacked.

Yep, as safe as I was in avoiding questionable sites, I was following research links on a certain innocuous subject, interesting only to me, not the kind of sites you'd expect to find any sort of malware.
Now I relegate myself to sites I'm completely familiar with. Boring, but safe, I hope...
What about this? Make a mirror image of your hard drive, and save it separately. If attacked, wipe the drive and reload the archived image. You lose a day's work at most.

But my infection isn't the same one that's being talked about in the news, so I may have been lucky.
Here's the one everyone is worried about, but I can't find sympathy for this victim, and I love the headline.

Just heard Starbucks network went down.
http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2017/05/16/starbucks-computer-system-crashes-computer-hack/
I'm quite confident the actual network is UP-UP, but the Servers are probably Up-down.
Their network is over a patchwork of providers - whether or not this is related to the wannacry thing, who knows.
Yep, I suppose they might have thought, "We're so cool, everyone loves Starbucks, nobody is ever gonna touch us."
Not a matter of Liberals getting hacked, probably poor IT management.
I've been told, if you "like" big brother type of micromanagement... apply, hence the problem is most likely at "home".
