We'll be there in 8 days... after a 3,462-day journey.

Earth's rotation requires 14 communication-dishes located all over the globe, to remain in constant touch with the spacecraft.

One of Pluto's poles is dark, as opposed to most planet's bright ice-reflection phenomenon.  The Mission hopes to figure-out why.

I love Pluto, the underdog planet, the planet that was always a planet till a bunch of nerd scientists claimed ice is not a planet, despite the fact it has it's own moons, circles the Sun.
But noooo, they had to be jerks.

Maybe New Horizons can put an end to this silly debate.

And when that dark spot on that one planetary pole turns out to be an alien base camp....   :scared:

Agree 100%  Rather than come up with a solid, scientifically defined basis for what is a "planet" and what is a "minor planet", they set up an arbitrary division between the two definitions.

Ever notice how liberals, so quick to label anyone who disagrees with them "science deniers", when the fact is their policies, to include reclassifying Pluto, are invariably based on "feelings" and opinion, never on solid science?

About 2-hours to go...

Some nice impact-craters... or 'character-marks'.  Not many meteors that far out, concentrically.
