Solar Power: An Environmental Disaster

Solar power is expensive, unreliable and environmentally destructive. So it doesn't come into being through consumer demand; rather, by government fiat or subsidy. The federal government controls the military, so, sadly, our armed forces have been dragged into the government's alleged fight against "climate change" to a humiliating degree.

Solar

There is one upside, these morons advocating commie Green Energy signed their names, so when it comes time for promotions, the Aleutian islands have a super spill toxic waste site in need of a lot of br-ASS to clean it up.

QuoteCamp Ripley can draw from the solar farm in times of emergency, and it goes a long way to make the base a "net-zero" electricity user.

I'd call it a "net-zero-intelligence".   How many hours of Solar energy are available in Minnesota?

Just east of there, is one of the BEST areas for Wind Energy, the winds are so constant, the trees all bend EAST.

Someone made a good chunk of change, and wasted lots of land too.

Just one state WEST of there, is a huge oil & gas reserve.  Natural Gas Turbines are SAFE, have practically zero environmental impact, and can generate MEGAWATTS of energy on a tiny footprint of land... day and night, rain or shine.

This was like selling freezers to Eskimos in the Arctic.... read on:

QuoteWhile the most persistent threat is to our electrical power grids, a new mapping effort by the US Geological Survey (USGS) shows how the hazards of geomagnetic storms are not the same all over Earth — and they're especially worrisome in northern Minnesota.

"Power grids are grounded, so they can pick up electric fields generated deep inside the Earth. But that geoelectric activity depends on the geology, and that's different from one region to the next," Jeffrey Love, a research physicist at the USGS and leader of the study in Geophysical Research Letters, told Business Insider.

At the center of the study is a new map of the hazards posed by geomagnetic storms of a strength that scientists expect to occur every 100 years — five times more frequently than "500-year" storms like the Carrington Event.

Guess where the WORST place is for Solar Storms (yeah, the stuff that KILLS solar panels)

Leave it to one government department not communicating with another government department to make a costly decision.

They can only have emergency in the day time only and if the sun is out.

What will the large solar field look like after a large hail storm?  I know what cars and car windows look like after a large hail storm.

Minnesota is Wisconsin's neighbor - in 44 years, I never saw hail larger than a dime.
Hail is usually associated with Tornado "type" weather, probably nothing to worry about in Minnesota.

Just freakish solar flares that kill every electrical power substation, generator and solar panel for 300 miles...  I'd take the hail.
