In the beginning when he was referring to the 0.8° temperature increase between 1860 and 2000.  The NASA GISS data actually extends from 1880 to 2010, and while there is no difference between changes in Kelvin and Celsius the temperature was actually recorded in Celsius.  The NASA GISS data shows a 0.80°C increase and a 0.29°C decrease during this 130-year period, resulting in a net change of +0.51°C (+0.918°F, +0.51°K).

The NASA GISS data also shows that between 1880 and 1915 there was a 35-year cooling period.  Then from 1915 to 1945 there was a 30-year warming period.  Followed by another 35-year cooling period between 1945 and 1980.  Which was then followed by yet another 30-year warming period from 1980 to 2010.

Granted, two warming and two cooling periods do not exactly make a trend, but if the pattern stays the same we can expect a 35-year cooling period between 2010 and 2045.

He also justified his "cherry-picked" data because it is also done by the Climate Change alarmists.  I prefer to take a difference approach and actually expand upon the data being presented.  Considering the climate has been changing on this planet for the last 4.567 billion years, to only look at 130 years worth of data is rather myopic in my opinion.

The first thing that needs to be understood is that the planet is currently 2.58 million years into its fifth ice-age.  The ice-age did not end with the last period of glaciation 11,700 years ago.  We are currently in the Holocene Interglacial Period.  During this interglacial period there have been a number of warming period and cooling periods

The warmest it has been during the current interglacial period was ~7,800 years ago, called the Holocene Maximum.  It was 2.7°C warmer than today.  Three other notable warming events also occurred, the Minoan, Roman, and Medieval warming periods.  During each of these warming periods humanity significantly improved culturally, economically, and technologically.  Contrast this with the cooling periods during the Dark Ages and Little Ice-Age when disease and famine were rampant. and there was very little or no developmental changes.

However, even this could be construed as "cherry-picked" data, so lets look at an even bigger picture.  As I previously mentioned, the Holocene Interglacial Period is just one of many.  The Eocene Interglacial Period, which occurred between 115,000 and 130,000 years ago was even warmer than the current interglacial period.

What should really be concerning everyone are those extremely long periods of glaciation.  One day, relatively soon, this interglacial period will end and the planet will have anywhere from 25% to 35% of its surface consumed in ice.

Even looking back 415,000 years could be considered "cherry-picked" data, so lets look at the complete picture.

The current mean surface temperature of Earth is 14.8°C.  When not in an ice-age the mean surface temperature of Earth is 22° ± 1°C.  The hottest mean surface temperature occurred at the end of the Permian, between 250 and 270 million years ago, when mean temperatures reached between 35°C and 40°C and more than 90% of all life on the planet died.

Since this is all the temperature data for the entire existence of the planet, it cannot be considered "cherry-picked."

Any time someone tells you that "the science is settled," or that it is "incontrovertible," or any absolute, then you know that it has crossed the line into religion and ceased being science.  If it cannot be questioned, then it cannot be considered science.  Even today, more than 100 years after Einstein published his General Theory of Relativity they are still putting it to the test.
