Title: New HMS Queen Elizabeth runs on...Windows XP?
Post by: quiller on July 19, 2017, 05:44:28 PM
If it ain't broke....

QuoteHMS Queen Elizabeth, the Royal Navy's newest vessel and the largest one ever built in the United Kingdom, is an impressive ship. Nine hundred and nineteen feet long with a crew of 1,600, the ship can carry up to 40 aircraft. Queen Elizabeth and her sister ship, Prince of Wales, will form the UK's main expeditionary force at sea, sailing into hotspots with their decks full of F-35 Joint Strike Fighters.

Oh, and Queen Elizabeth also runs Windows XP.

I can see the reasoning behind it, everyone that joins is more than a little familiar with it and won't need special training.
Can you imagine the Pentagon trying to develop a working OS? The same group pushing for social change, letting trannies and God knows what join.

Agreed.   It probably takes up little memory compared to WIN-10  (should call that LOSE-10... meh), and on a faster processor, probably really delivers quickly!

Some 1990 software I wrote in MS Basic... written on a 386, runs like greased lightning a Ghz machine.  A search routine that took 2 minutes back then, runs so fast, it started spitting out results almost immediately.   Get rid of the GUI interface, and even old Microsoft stuff burns-rubber on these speedy machines.
