Title: License Plates For Drones?
Post by: Solar on November 02, 2017, 02:22:12 PM
Pure Bull Shit! Just imagine if your car was subject to this nonsense, where the Fed could literally commandeer your car at any given moment.
Is this our future?

I have never seen an industry try so hard at curtailing the rights of its customers.
Earlier in the year, I tried firing up my Phantom 4 drone, only to discover I first had to agree to an upgrade. Yes, DJI will not allow you to connect to your drone unless you agree to their terms.
Well, the upgrade forces you to accept new parameters, such as restricted fly zones, even when there aren't any in effect by the Federal govt.
So now I have a constant warning that I may be flying in restricted airspace, even though I'm 75 miles from an airport, with the exception of a couple of small private strips more than a dozen miles away.

But now what do they want to do? They want the govt to institute a license plate, one that gives the Fed every bit of information on you, your craft, you heading, altitude, speed as well as where you came from and your entire flight path from the moment you turned on your drone.
One other point, this would give the govt power over your drone, they literally could usurp control over it and land it, and steal all the video you have recorded.

QuoteA closer look at Aeroscope: Could it Strike the Right Balance?
Today's event in D.C was all about DJI assuring the FAA that it is possible for drones to be a "safe, secure and beneficial addition to America's airspace."

Aeroscope has been dubbed an "electronic license plate for drones". It gives authorities a reliable way to identify and monitor airborne drones. Crucially, it can be put in place in sensitive areas such as airports, so doesn't necessarily have to monitor pilots flying elsewhere.

The system works by using the existing communications radio transmission between a drone and its remote controller. Drones in sensitive areas can transmit their location, altitude, speed, direction, takeoff location, operator location, and an identifier such as a registration or serial number, to any AeroScope receiver within radio range. Authorities will be empowered to track rogue drones and enforce regulations more easily.

This is fuckin insane.
I know of no other business entity that changes its agreement with the customer after purchase, or in this case, alters the agreement illegally.
I won't be buying another DJI product, that's for sure. I guess this shit is par for the course in commie China, so they have no idea of the backlash coming from Americans.

hmmm.... would #9 shot be too light?  How about #5 shot?   Probably need a full choke to keep the pattern tight enough.

I want a lazer cannon like on those SiFi programs, with a good detection & tracking system.
the guy who comes up with a rail gun that fires buckshot is gonna be rich.

Unless it's your drone being fired at.

Which way would the license plates have to face?  One on the front and rear?   Like car license plates - they'd have to be rather large to be legible from 1000' up - right?

This is the point of my argument, it's not a physical plate you can see, only the govt will be able to see it and control it remotely over the demands of the owner.
So what's the use beyond just more expanded abuse of governmental power over innocent citizenry?

This is very much a Bill of Rights issue and here we have a private entity pushing for regulations over private citizens that have never done anything wrong in their life but buy a drone.

Think tracking features on every gun, when and how it's used and monitored by some geek bureaucrat sitting in some windowless room who has never even kissed a girl in his life.
We as a people wouldn't tolerate that for a moment.

If anything, we need to be writing laws protecting the rights of the consumer from predator manufacturers.
I'd bet money the company pursuing this Bull Shit, is nothing but a front Co. for a govt entity, funded by Homeland Security.
