They entered the browser market and became number 1 in a few years.  Incredible.  They are still number 2 in the US, but trending to overtake IE soon...

I'm using Google Chrome as I post this. Y'all can stand back a step or two if you're worried about catchin' somethin'.  :tounge: :tounge: :tounge:

Compared to IE, well, there's just no comparison. It is BLISTERING fast and lightweight. It's smaller and faster than Firefox. It is my default browser, period, until something better comes along.

However, it has its warts. Especially early on, Chrome wouldn't display a lot of pages correctly, maybe 20% of pages if you were just surfing around. Nowadays, that's more like 3%, and I can live with that. In fact, one of the early glitches had to do with eBay; any time you tried to search eBay using Chrome, your screen defaulted to 480x640. It was kinda wild. But that's fixed now, along with most other issues.

Chrome tends to be a RAM hog. That's how Google-anything works, it's all about storage. On the other hand, it frees up CPU resources compared to IE or Firefox.

Final word: I'm still looking for, and trying out, lighter, speedier browsers. But for now, Chrome walks my dog, and does it nicely.

It is sad, because I thought Chrome was the best one.  I'm curious to see how it all plays out with HTML5, supports local browser storage, which is really cool.

Google is just not trustable, and it is scary what they are compiling on us.  The less you can give them, the better.

And boy, do we know firsthand just how much they glean from your computer.
