We knew it was coming to this. The GMO revolution wasn't going to stop at our dinner table. But did we think it would happen so soon?

The first week in December, delegates from the top three gene-editing countries—China, the UK and the US—met in Washington, DC for a symposium on the future of gene-editing. For those not familiar with the parlance, gene editing refers to the ability to alter the DNA of an embryo in a manner which affects the germline. The germline is defined as follows; "In biology and genetics, the germline in a multicellular organism is that population of its bodily cells that are so differentiated or segregated that in the usual processes of reproduction they may pass on their genetic material to the progeny."

This is scary stuff.  This is one of those things that, I believe, is an existential threat to mankind.  I may be a Luddite, but I think this is a realm where we have no business treading.

Just a guy, don't panic just yet.

Teehee, genetic engineering, especially tampering with the genome of a human being is illegal under current federal law in the United States. In fact the same law which outlaws that, has also at times hampered genetic research, and research into things like using stem cells from your own stomach to grow designer organs for you, to replace say a bad kidney or liver or heart.

Which actually really is a good idea, because as it's grown from your own tissues, there's almost zero chance of rejection. And the need to use anti-rejection drugs.

As many have to take after getting a donated organ.

But I fear you are right, because I do think that while yeah it's illegal here. And probably a good thing that it is, given we have fellow Nazi eugenicists running all over the place supporting planned parenthood in our nation today.

It is also simply a matter of time I fear, before it is done anyways, by someone else in another nation.

The genetic genie is literally out of the bottle and, as was the case with nuclear fission I don't think we are going to get it back into the bottle anytime soon.

So in a way, you might say we're actually as a nation in the U.S. that is, hamstringing ourselves, preemptively cutting ourselves out from a field of study and research that is growing by leaps and bounds every year.

Which if not done by us, will eventually be done by someone else.

Like lots of "issues" facing us today, we have to decide if we are going to lead from the front in that "issue" or as we've done time and time again under Obamco, try to lead from the rear of the pack.

We're in agreement. I knew when we cracked the DNA code, it was a Pandora box, that there is no stopping privately funded labs by governments, ours, China, Russia etc.
That we are tampering with God's work, and we're simply too damn stupid to recognize the consequences.
We may not see the damage for hundreds of years, but when it does occur, there will be no fixing it.

If that "frightens" ya's folks then this really will.

Note how far back that was.

If the guy really did it back then, with the tech we had available to us at that time.

Then God himself truly is the only one that knows what they're creating today then.

Well, it is coming.

Don't deny the future - only preparation will turn a bane into a boon.
