So far I hate it and it has only been 24 hours. Apparently I am not the only one. Ironically While I was on hold with tech support they played music. One song over and over again. The song? "The Thrill is Gone" By BB King...

I understand 8 to be designed more for apps, like sinking your phone, cable TV the cloud, music etc, stuff the average user isn't interested in, most people use their phone for most of that crap, but Windows was losing Mkt share in a huge way and tried to be everything to everyone.
I have Win 7, it's alright, but I still think Win 98 was the last good OS they developed, now Win 7 etc, is about as user friendly as a case of jock itch.

He nailed it perfectly, Windows has been on this path since it's inception, every successive version, loses continuity to the first version.
This is why I say 98 was the last user friendly version made, after that, they started hiding everything, and now it appears they even hid Windows under some grand experiment.
I was going to buy Toy a new PC, now it appears I either wait, or check with Dell and see if they have any Win 7 refurbished models.

Great find my froiend!

It is amazing they still have their market share.

Have you looked at Macbooks at all?

I have a 98 running yet as a stand alone with the MS Office on it yet.   I love it!

I wish I still had a machine running it, but sadly, many of today's progs don't support it.

Not to mention, funny.
He really did nail the problem with Windows, it's like if Ford redesigned the car every year, one year it has a key start and steering wheel, the next year, a joystick and peddle power, the following year, you steer with your feet and start it with a cell phone.
The only consistency has been the name Windows and ...well, the name, that's about it, every version requires a serious learning curve, one I will not be paying for until they fix that crap.

I have Win 7, yeah, I got used to it, but honestly, trying to get into the meat and potatoes of making it mine, is like a freakin Easter egg hunt in a land mine, you may find a couple, but you will probably create a disaster in the process.

Win 98 was so was to navigate, you could easily find all your progs, with W7 I'm still trying to find half the crap installed, they even changed the default to where it puts shit, and I still haven't found a road map for that.

Microsoft could make a billion if they were to re release Win 98, I have no doubt.

Yeah, I don't remember having UI issues with 95, 98, and XP.  Stuff crashed a lot, but hey, that's Windows.  This W8 thing blows my mind.  I've used W7 a few times and I just couldn't do it.  Once you get used to it it's fine, but my brain would just lock up and I'd punch the screen.

W7 is fine for surfing the web, it's like trying to buy a stripped down pick up truck, but all they offer is Boeing 747s without wings.
It's too big to be practical, but if I ever decide to take lessons, I'll be the biggest broken down truck on the road.

Everything he said I have encountered. If anyone needs to know the weather forecast let me know. It pops up fullscreen at random. Several times an hour. I should have known I was in for a hard time when tech support finished helping me with my initial problem they said they were sending a manual to my email that would "explain" Windows 8.
I have had the computer for 3 days and have only now figured out how to shut it down in under four steps.
