Is anybody else using roku?  I dropped my cable ($150 a month) and have just internet ($39.95). I've been watching movies and tv shows on my laptop during my downtime, and it's okay, but it's not the same as television.  I just installed Roku (picked it up at Walmart) and the first thing I watched is GBTV.  I LOVE IT! (yeah, the caps here signify SHOUTING-- 'cause I really love it!). It's a great way to save a ton of money that you can now use to buy survival food, or in my case, pay off those pesky credit cards!  If you need (or want) to cut back, look into it.

But you still need an ISP, right?
We have satellite, but there are limits as to how much download you get each month, so does this thing have it's own ISP, or do you use Verizon or some other carrier?

Something else to consider is the Navi-X plugin for XBMC. In the six or so months I've been using it I've been pretty pleased. You can stream movies, TV shows, and even live TV.

If you have an old PC lying around, slap a decent video card in it (or don't), buy a 12 dollar USB remote from amazon, and it's just like having on-demand cable. Or just install it on a laptop or desktop PC, whatever works:
