OK, I'm no rocket scientist, but why do I get the idea that we're being bull shitted?
What I see is nothing short of a particle beam based on a satellite with nothing more than guidance thrusters.
Do you see it too

Exoatmospheric Kill Vehicles are designed to destroy incoming ballistic threats while they are still in space.
The Raytheon-made EKV is designed to destroy incoming ballistic missile threats by directly colliding with them, a concept often described as 'hit to kill.'
The EKV has an advanced, multi-color sensor used to detect and discriminate incoming warheads from other objects.
The EKV has its own propulsion, communications link, discrimination algorithms, guidance and control system and computers to support target selection and intercept.

If a threat is detected using one of GMD's multiple land, sea- and space-based sensors, a Ground-Based Interceptor will be launched into space using a three-stage solid rocket booster.
Once outside of the Earth's atmosphere, operating at the edge of space at hypersonic speeds, the EKV's job begins.
The EKV seeks out the target using multi-color sensors, a cutting-edge onboard computer, and a rocket motor used only for steering in space.
It hones in on its target, and with pinpoint precision, destroys it using nothing more than the force of a massive collision.
No traditional warhead is needed.

From what I found on Google, this might be the real thing.

When it comes to links like that, it's OK to bury them with an explanation.
But according to the pics, there's no rear engine, only steering thrusters, so it's safe to assume this is some form of laser.

Check out Project Thor sometime.

The kinetic energy, from a single telephone pole made out of something like tungsten steel, for example.

Slamming into the ground from Space, releases nearly the same amount of kinetic energy as that released by a small tactical nuke going off.

Only with Project Thor, unlike if say a nuke is used, there is no radiation post detonation to worry about.

Scary isn't it?

One of every five Americans you meet has a mental illness of some sort. Many, many, of our veteran's suffer from mental illness like PTSD now also. Help if ya can. :) http://www.projectsemicolon.org/share-your-story.html
And no you won't find my "story" there. They don't allow science fiction. :)
