The guy first came up to me asking if I would like to earn multiple streams of income.  That is the first thing they say.  I asked how, and he said by owning my own company.  I asked what my equity stake looks like, and if he could send me some financials.  He said he didn't have any.  I asked how I would own the company. He didn't know.  I asked what his position was.  He said "Director".  He tried to give me his email, and it was a gmail account.  I asked why a Director of a reputable company wouldn't issue their Directors an email address.  I told him if he had an ounce of decency, he would quit trolling Starbucks for kids to take money from to participate in this scam.

Is Primerica some kind of network marketing or pyramid scheme?  In Canada they just do financial planning and investment management as far as I know.

This is just one of thousands of complaints against them.

In early March, 2005, I was contacted by the Regional Vice President in Oklahoma City who had been "given my resume'" and was contacting me about an interview for their "Marketing Division". I went in the next week for the first interview, then my husband and I were "invited" back for the "interview" on Thursday night. When we walked in and realized what was going on, we should have left, like we saw others do. But we stayed, and listened, and asked questions, and heard others ask questions that were never fully answered.
Now, I'm trying to get back the money I paid to get licensed, since we discussed it more afterwards and decided not to do it. First I contacted the Regional VP, who turned me over to another guy whose "team" I was on. The second guy said he would "take care of it". After waiting almost 3 weeks, I contacted him today to find out where it stood on my refund, and he said "you need to call the corporate office". I've now placed three calls and sent a fax making a written request for my money.
I should have know better than to even THINK something like this was a good thing, but I would have thought when I requested a refund, they could have been honest with me from the beginning and told me I had to go through the corporate office. Instead, I've waited all this time for nothing. It just makes me glad that I never gave them a list of people to contact! If anyone from Primerica contacts you, BE AFRAID, BE VERY AFRAID!

I always thought of these guys as the AMWAY of financial services.

I remember once back in college I got suckered into going to an Amway meeting. A guy I knew from a class said he had a business opportunity. He picked me up and we met about 100 people at a hotel conference room. We ended up sitting at the front, they closed the doors and only then did I hear the words "AMWAY". I remember thinking "damn" even at the age of 20. The got me into a meeting, sitting at the front with no ride home. I had to listen to their crap for 4 hours.

If they don't want to tell you what something is on the front end of the conversation then you don't want to be a part of it.

Closest thing I ever got to a church meeting that wasn't a church meeting...

Dan

I was thinking more along the lines of a cult, but sure. We can go with churchy if you like.  :P
