Russ seems like a great guy and very understanding.
I'm just glad to gear that an anchor of Conservative forums won't be closing, I hate to see any forum that carries our voice be shuttered for any reason.

I'll leave this thread open, just in case some of our members want to support Rightminds.
Good luck to all.

That and if there board has a glitch now and then.   They have a place to go if they like until it back up and running.

Dead spot on about Russell - a true gentleman  RM is home to lovers of dachshunds, firearms (several experts/collectors), business (Russ is among those with mad bidness savvy) NFL football (true fans), psychology/criminal psychology (two of my hobbies), mysticism (me again), Christianity (yep), computers (our old-school threaded format notwithstanding, Russ et al are wiz-eye with PCs), science (another personal hobby), Science Fiction / literature, Hollywood (where I have worked for many years like Dr. Doolittle), the Constitution / Law, conservative ideology and leftist troll-bludgeoning on Net comments sections.  RM is small but lethally effective like a bullet. Even though the admin is very tolerant (we have not banned anyone in a long, long time) few trolls have reared their hideous heads there for long because the reward for that is to have it handed back to them politely but firmly. We pride ourselves on being well-informed. Cursing and gnashing of teeth often follows troll-beatings but rarely banning (unless they degenerate into vulgar vituperation ). Among our most wonderful members are several conservative ladies who bring that special touch to the forum which only they can bring : small handguns with light pull on the trigger. An ability to insult trolls with scathing, polite candor but a gentle smile. They are like my family. I feel that I have stumbled onto another here...(can I crash on the couch?)

That pretty much describes this forum as well, though I imagine any true Conservative forum fits the mold ascribed.
No need to crash on the couch, we have a full suite set aside, cable is free, minibar is as well, that is, if the members haven't raided it yet.

Hope I'm not too late.  When is this board going to shut down?  Are you going somewhere else, if so?

I tried to build a site on one of those freebie discussion boards, but couldn't find posters.

Resister --

The board is not going to shut down in the foreseeable future -- absent EMP attack or other disaster.  I know that because I am the owner of that forum.

The fellow who started that rumor sorta got carried away with himself.

Take care,

I'm glad to hear that.  Actually, I am a constitutionalist and always looking to meet others who want to discuss the fundamentals of Liberty.

I left another board that had too many liberals on it and they were really into socialism, Marxism, liberalism, etc. to the point that you could not have a productive discussion.

Can we try some difficult issues and discuss hard core topics?

Only if you can handle the truth.  We don't tip-toe around your feelings.

I suggest you take a look around the forum first and save yourself from making embarrassing comments, such as above.

So you think I should feel embarrassed?  I've been on a few boards that profess to be open to the truth; however, whenever the "truth" is opposite of what the board moderators see as being true, they are quick to censor what they don't like.

hah hah Well, fine. I'll be the bad guy. But just one more time I'll try to clear the air about the initial misunderstanding. Russ and I independently stumbled onto this site at roughly the same time apparently. Without knowing this, I joined this forum and made some inquiries about a "refuge" if RM had a catastrophic problem, with the intention of going back to Right Minds with the information. Before I could communicate with anyone at RM about this option, the very generous, proactive people here had already taken action and created this board, so it looked to Russ like I was forgetting my place but it was actually just an odd, slightly complicated coincidence. This is a good example of how misunderstandings can spiral out of control and generate hurt feelings even when everyone's intentions are sterling!! :cursing:

I thought I had posted a few weeks ago that Russ had obtained some terrific software to continue the Right Minds forum if a transition was necessary but maybe I didn't . If so, I'm sorry about that Russ.

'Working four jobs seven days a week including taking care of a physically/psychologically disabled woman (my housemate) 24/7 so that might have slipped by.

Well if you're not, you should be.
We are a TEA Conservative board, key word, Conservative, meaning way of life, living life by a set of core values. Running from the truth is not one of them, because as Conservatives, there is but one truth, there is no gray area, no liberalism and definitely no need to bury posts we disagree with, for those are why most of us are here, to expose Marxism at every turn and shred liberal thought whenever it exposes it's ugly little head.

Post whatever you like, just make sure it's in the correct forum and it will be discussed.

Like Solar, I suggest you peruse the board and see how things are handled. We have no problem with difficult issues and hard core topics. Just make sure it is about facts with links.

Well, it may hurt your feelings, but I don't feel embarrassed in the least.  A lot of people on the Internet profess a lot of things, but until they are in a position where they are uncomfortable, you never know where they really stand.

Again, I'm a constitutionalist and there are times where that conflicts with some brands of conservatism (and I say that as I sit at my computer with my III Percenter t shirt on.)   But, I'll post.  Don't be offended.  I don't aim to offend, but to challenge ourselves so that others don't have an easy time of challenging us.
