I have a Netgear router and modem combo. Every day around the same time of day I lose internet connection for a few hours. I have changed out my router and modem combo to a new one but I still have the same problem.I have Comcast as my internet provider and they are lost for words. They have sent out a tech several different times but all seems to be okay on both ends when the tech arrives.Maybe someone on here can shed some light on the problem I'm having. Thanks in advancebronx.
Thanks, guys.I turn off the power and unplug it for about 15 minutes. When I turn it back on sometimes this fixes the problem right away and sometimes it doesn't. Right now the lightning bolt sign going up is orange while everything else is green. Also, it happens around 10:30 am EST for about an hour and then it will come back on and stay on for the rest of the day. Now I do keep the router combo on 24 hours. It never gets shut off. Should I shut it down before I head to bed...?As far as router logs are concern that's way above my pay grade....... I have a question. What's another brand of router and modem combo is out there besides Netgear....?I have the top of the line Netgear so I'm thinking about trying another brand.
I see you missed the news.https://www.wral.com/fbi-s-urgent-request-reboot-your-router-to-stop-russia-linked-malware/17585210/https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2018/05/fbi-tells-router-users-to-reboot-now-to-kill-malware-infecting-500k-devices/
Thanks, Solar...I did see that. My router brand isn't on their list. Also, I bought a new router and I'm getting the same results.
Can you do a hardwire connection and eliminate the router?I had something happen to me about 30 years ago, only this was on my TV. (side note, thanks to this issue, I weaned off TV entirely)Since I live in the mountains and the transmitter for the valley stations are nearly 100 miles away, I needed to go up 75' in the air with an antenna and signal booster. My signal was kinda OK more like shit anyway, then one day, at 2:00 PM, fuzz, that's all I could get, white static, so I replaced my booster with a newer model, nothing happened, two months of this, so I called the FCC to see if others were having trouble in the area and nothing. However, they transferred me to a tech for further assistance and I hit gold. He said, ya know, when boosters go bad, they tend to become transmitters.Well, I decided to ask my neighbor a quarter mile away who happened to be in the direct path of my antenna to the valley transmitters and he said his booster didn't seem to be working all that well, said hang on, I'll turn it off, and Bam, I had a picture again. His bad booster was blocking my signal. Now I have no idea if the same applies in your case, but a direct line connection could eliminate the issue.Makes me wonder if a neighbor of yours has a bad router causing the same issue? Are you turning something on at that time?Who in your area gets home about the time your signal goes out? Could be some other piece of equipment, shortwave radio, CB radio, welder? But I'd be willing to bet, a bad router has the same effect on other good routers.I have no idea, but maybe this will give you new avenues to explore.
Thanks again Solar. I was thinking along the neighbor lines but more in a devilish way. Like my neighbor tapping into my internet connection or something. I don't have Comcast as a TV source only the internet. They head out every weekend and I don't seem to have this problem on the weekends. Also, they work from home. I'm going to set the mouse trap and see if I can catch a mouse in action. As I type this is the same time frame when my internet connection goes out and all is good. I will let you know what I find. My neighbors are very liberal folks and they are always asking why so many Flags. So we will see. Stay tuned my friend.
