My 00 Malibu does not blow cold air any longer poor darling. I ordered a leak test kit to find where the AC is leaking and plan on doing the service soon in forward of summer. Any tips?

Don't worry about the leak, 14 years is pretty damn good if this is your first tune up on the AC.
Just take it in and have them charge it, or pick up a kit and do it yourself.

Not really expensive either way.

If you decide to recharge your AC despite the leak, I've had good experience with this, which I got from Wal-Mart for a reasonable price. I had enough for several charges: http://www.walmart.com/ip/EZ-Chill-Measure-and-Charge-Can-with-Inline-Gauge/16930284

Just make sure you get the correct refrigerant.

Bingo! And whether or not your system "Does, or does Not" require oil/lubricant in the freon, or whatever in the Hell they're using today.

I'm sure you remember back when you just went to the local parts store, grabbed a can of freon to recharge your system?
It's all changed now.

I think shops charge something like 70 bucks to recharge your AC nowadays. Damn! No thanks.

It can make a difference in cars manufactured by various companies in the same year.

Yep, I ruined an AC units filter by using one with the wrong lubricant.
