Wife bought me one, they actually suck, I can blow harder through a straw.

I use one at work. They are alright.
With all these lawyers with cameras on the street i'm shocked we have so much crime in the world.

There is constitutional law and there is law and order. This challenge to law and order is always the start to loosing our constitutional rights.

Frauditors are a waste of life.

Sometimes it''s the most basic of problems. First, check all cables, then open up the case, and blow it out, a compressor works best, but it sounds like a video card getting hot, so make sure the fan is spinning, and not plugged with debris.
I failed to clean mine, and just last month the CPU fried due to dust and dog hair build up. We live in the forest and we have clay dirt, like talcum, and with the dogs in and out, there is no escaping the dust, add to that, the computer sits on the floor, so every time one ran by, it would suck in debris, it finally died.
Oh, and the video card was crusted over as well, so blow it out twice a year.

Anyway, it sounds like a video card failing, or it could, as you suspect be a monitor as well, so check that it too has good air flow.

Whew !

Luckily I live in the 'burbs and only have a couple of cats, so that will nevah happen to me.

Thanks all....Good and bad news....the good news it was my monitor the bad news WFT with these prices for these damn monitors....

The cheapest one so far and I brought it was a whopping $113 and that's because it's 1080p. Them damn 4K go for around $250 and up.

At Best Buy they had a 55" 4K for $299 so I just couldn't understand how a 21" computer monitor is more expensive then a TV.

Oh well...I'm up and running now. Thank for all the input. Situations like this make this place (CPF) the best in the world.

Once again..THANKS...!

Did you check out eBay ?

Perfectly good used LCD Monitors sell for very little.

Here in the 'burbs Thrift Stores sell them for $10 to $25. More at $10 than $25.

I see functional one on the curb, too.

I used to pick them up, but now have a dozen, so I let be them be now.

Hiya @Bronx ...

Sounds to me like power settings, and maybe it is having trouble coming back from sleep...

Win7 is evident how to get to control panel... For win 8 and 10:
Poke start and start typing 'control' sans quotes...
Find the resulting control panel icon and poke it.

Top right in control panel dialog [large icons]
Find power options.

There is a built in plan called 'always on'... sometimes you have to look for it... (there's a pulldown below...)

If you set it to always on, it disables all power settings
If that gets you joy, with both the mon and pooter staying on, then your problem is likely in the power settings, or in the driver for the vid or monitor.

IF TRUE, go back to power settings and set it to 'recommended', and hit the 'set defaults' option.
If that brings no joy, then try setting sleep and monitor settings longer - My tv computer is set 'always on' all the time, because it messed with me watching movies and vids... I have to physically shut it off or put it to sleep.

IF FALSE, then worry about the vid card and testing a known good monitor...

If the Monitor goes BLACK in the same time whether it is cold or warm, it is obviously a Sleep Setting.

Also if the Time Out period is consistent, it's a Sleep Setting.

I would bet on that rather than Monitor Failure.

Seemed likely to me that way too... But he got it sorted out otherwise. Shrugs...

Did he ? I am unsure of the outcome.

BTW, the CRT Monitors I grew up on had many faults, but VIEWING ANGLE was not one of them.

The colors and contrast had the same appearance no matter how you looked at them.

RIP old friend.

I remember buying a large HP CRT monitor from circuit City. I even bought thr extended warranty.

Warranty expired, and it died shorty after.

That's right...  I had three of those 19" puppies overhead on my old test bench... Sitting there looking up at em all day long dang near broke my neck... Finally put the machines up there and brought the monitors down on the bench. way less room to work with, and I had to get up to hook up HDDs and whatever else, but it did end my suffering.

Now, with the lightweight monitors of today, they sit dead level with my eyes, hung on the wall.
Mobedda.

I want to note that the purchase of computer components - this is the most active transaction. Many scammers work in this field. Try to cooperate only with proven stores or large sites that provide a refund guarantee. In any case, you can check the transfer routing yourself. Enter the data on the site, for example, 267084131 and compare the contact details of the bank with what you indicated on the check. Enjoy the shopping!
