Same here, and it was blown off as conspiracy created by white supremacists, that the FBI was trying to destroy MLK in the mid 60s.
The stories were convoluted to the point, you couldn't believe either side.
I think it was the early 2000s when it was a big deal on the new site, stormfront when it just started.

But like many on the right, I was led to believe MLK was a Pub, and to change that, would place him right in the DNC camp of tools to bash us with.
So like a good little Pub, I dropped it altogether because I hated these fuckin racists and the left equally, I wanted MLK to be a GOP member.
