Like you, I too am extremely surprised he didn't align with the RINO, and to be honest, Cruz would not have fared any better, in fact, Cruz was more hated by the Establishment than Trump, so it's safe to say, he'd be pulling his hair out trying to get anything accomplished, further damaging the Conservative movement..
To Trump's credit, he has not stopped since he took office, busily appointing judges, undoing illegal EO's by the Marxist, pushing quietly, Klinton's investigation, all of which will take one Hell of a long time to produce fruit, so patience is all one can ask for at this point.

Tillerson, from my perspective, and I can't see everything entirely - is NOT helping the cause, Trump needs to replace him - but with whom?

Cruz would have tried to achieve his conservative goals for however long it took for him to get frustrated (not very long would be my guess), and he then would have settled into defensive mode for 4 years.

Trump is the only person who can do what he's doing, and beat these bastards to boot.  We are lucky it fell this way.  NTM that Trump has given us many things that Cruz would have.  Gorsuch, Iran deal, Paris Accord, Israel - Jerusalem, good judges, many other EO's.  Cruz may or may not have had the ability to fight off the insurrection from the left, deep state, and MSM.

I think Trump may have some private security / intel ops that have helped him, and some historical partnerships that are paying off.

I also think he's got some "white hats" in the intel swamp that are helping him screw with the media ("leaks" that have helped them publish the incredibly stupid / fake stories).

Lastly, I think Trump also has ahold of Obama's blackmail database of CIA / NSA snooping.  He's not a blackmailer like Obama, but I have a sneaking feeling that he's using it to burn the DC and Hollywood scum layer.  He also may be using it on Mueller and crew.  Those guys are dropping like flies in every way possible.

Last grenade he has to throw is the Kennedy files;  I'm guessing that he's told a few people "hey, your dad / uncle / grampa / etc. are sitting ducks in these files.... re-think and correct yourself".

I think you are on to something.  I agree completely with the Cruz assessment, Trump is better suited to attack the left... and slide policy, after policy through, under the nose of the Leftists. 

But, does President Trump have dirt on the Dems....?   One could only wish.   I didn't realize it at the time, John Kennedy being exposed as a rapist and pervert - again, that's a perspective I missed entirely - very observant!   Very interesting post!

I have to say Trump has been pretty darn good at getting rid of obama's executive actions. And his legacy. Much as I wanted Cruz, hard to say if he would have destroyed obama's legacy like Trump is doing.
